Help for induction lamp

I recently bought an induction light. An Inda-gro 420 Pro. From my reading it appears that they do a great job in veg, and not so hot in flowering.

So my thoughts were that Id build/buy a pontoon system like sell for the the inda gro but more reasonably than the $400-$500 that inda gro wants. Length of the light is about 36".

Can I get some input?

They actually do great in flower. I get about 3-4 zips per plant . Yeah it's expensive. It's because of the housing and the 730 leds and the boards that control the battery that charges a battery that runs the 730's at lights out. The warranty too. You could definitely build your own though. But you'd need a separate timer for the 730's. Imo add some 630nm and 4000k leds on top of the 660 and 730 too. The current pontoons are just 660 nm and 730nm . There are a new version pontoons coming out sometime this year. I suggested they add small cobs or something. They will be doubling the watts of the pontoon and adding 630. Hopefully they will add some white leds too.

Here's mine. These lights are around 3 years old.

These lights work best with a scrog or lollipopped plants.

You could also contact Inda-Gro directly. They have been known to offer "B Stock" or demo models at discounted rates.
Great people to deal with!

that's a great xmas tree light but not much else

Its comments like this that shut down conversations. You care to explain or would you like to just leave it there like a turd.

It has the same 660nm as the indagro pontoon. Plus some 460nm which should increase trichome production because of the uva/uvb

There is no uva/uvb in 460nm blue.
The thing is they use the cheapest quality mystery led's available. Send a message to the seller and ask them to elaborate on the specific led's used.
The thing with the inda-gro pontoon is as previously mentioned, the circuit board / battery sytem that handles the timing of the 730nm far red that the light you linked does not have. That is the nm of focus for encouraging plants to sleep quickly at lights out.
Plus, how much work is it going to take to Jury rig a pair of those other strips on to your 420?
Check ebay also, there are several sellers selling demo 420/pontoon combos and maybe they would seperate one

If it were me looking at adding a diy on top of the 420 I would probably add cobs to the pontoon bars or other higher power led's. Not cheap Red/blue

So a retailer on ebay has a store used display I asked if he would sell separately. He asked how much?

These are only 40w. Is that enough to make a noticeable difference?

How much should I offer?

What are you looking for in the addition?
The Deep Red and Far Flowering enhancement with lights out timing that the Inda-Gro Pontoon provides or just more overall light?

enhancement is the word that probably captures it best.

Im fairly new to growing. My last grow turned out really good, so I am looking at keeping the quality high while increasing my yield.

So this Q&A kinda stalled so I want to re-ask the question.

for $300-$400 are there existing kits or a DIY kit that would be similar shape to the pontoon with better output and spectrum

this is my first run with the 420. However I doubt they would have made the pontoon if the flowering capability of the light wasnt lacking or at least the in need of a bump.

Having said that Im not certain Im going to add Leds, but I definitely wanted to look into it.

BLM makes the red bars that would work for you
their Spyder model is made of these bars
I think the've changed names this year thou
I haven't looked at them in 2 years so i do Not know what really is offered right now

BML seems like they make some pretty nice units.

So which 2 spectrums would be the most beneficial with the 420? I like the idea of the UV supplement that peaks at 400nm. However Im not sure what would be best to pair it with, a 625nm, 660nm, or the 730nm

well the 730 is something you would only want to run for like 7min immediately after the indagrow shuts off. if you want something to supplement while the main light is on i'd say 660.
