The end of LED is nigh. Incandescent will rise again.

No, I do not have any "strong opinions" about white cobs at all. Not like you folks, at all.

And no, you do not gain any specific insights from growing with white cobs that refute any of the facts I reported nor the reputable sources I backed it up with, and you couldn't have presented as a valid argument in text form. Think about what you are actually claiming with your silly question. Did Jesus touch you too and make you 'see the light'...

I know it's exactly what the led fans, shills and pretengineers want to believe, but putting a few white cobs above your plants does not equate to LED or grow knowledge. The suggestion that it does is ludicrous. The suggestion that connecting a few cobs to a driver equates to designing a grow light is ludicrous. The suggestion that it refutes the facts I posted is just idiocracy. The suggestion that it changes the specs and info from this led forum is funny and ironic so thanks for that.

As Stephen and the transparent butthurt reeking trolls showed so nicely in this thread trying to have a discussion with biased led fans is like playing chess with pigeons... Crap all over the board if you have to, but it won't change the fact you all got nothing more than the inherent effect of running Cree cobs soft. Conjecture would be an overstatement for the nonsense claims you all derive from it and call facts based on nothing but bias, feelings and fallacies.

Next time someone brings up something else than your par watt efficiency, why not keep it short and simple and just shout "Blasphemy!"

Troll???? Me...... Really now. In case you don't know and you probably don't the DE started out as a mining bulb. So underdriving Crees is as innovative as any other re purposed tech such as hps mh cmh/lec blurple so on so forth. So please try to refrain from name calling as I haven't resorted to such tactics.

This might be the most outrageous comment you've made here in the LED section. So let me get this straight, you spend hour after hour, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year coming into the LED section bashing the tech and the people that use it and you claim no "strong opinions".

Underpowering cobs for and buying more in veg isn't really much more expensive than T5, but is way more efficient. The idea that underpowering cobs is unusual or somehow hard to do is a pretty bad argument. "the one trick" is just a tradeoff between startup cost and efficiency.

For example, my gavita killer is 2.1umol/J. T5 is the real loser here. IMO, T5 is already obsolete.

Why are you comparing a super nice cob build to a T-5?

....the title of the thread implies a dying LED industry, so I was asking.
Not really, it implies a doomsday scenario, and thus obviously just a catchy title for an interesting development I liked to share. Which happened to present an opportunity to bring up a few other related issues...

Perhaps those posting results under COBs are misleading others, then present the case.
I'm glad we agree about that. Exactly what I've been doing on and off for the past years, especially when it comes to comparison to hps. In most cases I don't even think it's intentional but a mere result of having (been) mislead themselves. The same herd mentality is common with many other subjects especially in grow forums.

A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds”

People tend to stick to what they claimed was true and if that's the foundation of their self-esteem they rather put aside reason and attack persons instead of arguments. The Bibled sekt's butthurt responses, meltdowns and otherwise immature nonsense is not on me. That stuff is like commercials on TV, usually best to ignore, sometimes very funny.

You all need to lighten up.

Well I cant speak for incandescent growing as ive never done it.Stubbornly stuck with my floros before changing to led.Hit some roadblocks on my journey, chinese plant stretchers etc.Tried my hand at cob growing, they grew well but I didnt like the intensity hot spots they seemed to create.Im much happier with my mono arrays, seems to give more even distribution of light with no concentrations, and much easier to tune spectrum.Much like my old floros but with higher intensity.Im not saying cobs are bad, they just arent a good fit for me.There isnt a one kind of light that fits all,and I hope there never will be.Just an old man rambling...carry on.

Personally at this point there is obviously some dsyfunction going on with our Little Sativied Wonder. I'm thinking it's some kind of manifestation of your guys sucess in launching a cottage industry, something that has obviously eluded him in all his years of growing. Jealousy basically but with other underlying problems resulting in his erratic behaviour. Drug abuse is one diagnosis that's spot on IMHO. The bias and prejudice worries me though. Intellectual Honesty? Sounds a bit insecure when you have to advertise your intelligence like some huckster. What are you selling? You got nothing but static son, both in your life and verbage.

leds are overatted.the claims led companys make are bogus.for example the spectrum king ppl claim thier 440watt lights can match a 1000 watt hps when in reality they cant.
