The end of LED is nigh. Incandescent will rise again.

That's a much clearer statement lol. And to a point I agree. If I can save on electricity and yield the same or better in my personal grow and the investment does not offset the difference in price in electricity for more than the first cycle. Then yes. If it takes more than a cycle to pay off my investment for lighting a 3x3 in a 3x3 then no, hps is still better bang for your buck lol. And by offset I mean it has to save me more or yield more in the amount of the investment. I was already yielding what I was yielding with hps, if I can't make the additional weight or electricity savings in the first cycle, not worth it IMO.
But this assumes you will be only growing 1 cycle. If, for example, you yield exactly the same but it takes you 2 or more cycles to recoup the extra start up cost in elec savings surely it is still a good investment as you are in the black and making savings for the next...forever

No,it's just that with led tech right now I'm upgrading all the time anyway. So if it can't play itself off fast, it's not worth the investment to me. That's why I said my opinion. I know these LEDs are supposed to last forever, but I'm going to keep upgrading as long as investment is quickly returned as soon as tech gets better.

Yeah, I agree. The arguing (especially in this particular subforum) is really out of hand....But I must confess that I have gotten so used to seeing it (and being perversely-entertained by it), it just now seems part of the landscape.

As far as which lights can beat the other lights ass in a streetfight kind of stuff, I have seen pictures posted of outstanding results from every kind of light imaginable (almost). And since that IS the case, then it just goes to reason that good growers will get good results under whatever lights they choose to use...yes, including Mars and Platinum, shop lights, twisty CFLs, etc.

If you're a small time, personal-use type grower (like me), then all the super-efficiency stuff that gets argued so much, isn't really even an issue. Sure, if you run a recreational cannabis greenhouse operation it will make a difference...but I reckon that most of us are just small timers. If grower "A" has to pay an extra $10 dollars a month on electricity because he happens to use HID lights, then I guess he'll have to buy one less six-pack of beer to make up the difference in his monthly expense budget! ;) HA!

I'm going to read every single thread that Sativied posts here and so are you all...so carry on! :)

That's the spirit. Don't let the hateful three stooges of RIUs led community spoil anything, they aren't particularly appreciated for their trolling by their own brothership either. And Realstyles' just upset cause he ordered the wrong (worst) cobs even worse for photosynthetic efficiency. Should work slightly better to warm up the plants though.

And especially for you:

While the lack of valid arguments and preference from the led cult to attack others is so much more fitting with trump's approach... Look in the mirror clown.

We are beyond valid arguments. You dismiss scientific facts faster than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest. Fact of the matter if we do bring up numbers you always talk trash and don't seriously settle down and talk facts. WHY IS THAT? You only start these type of threads and participate in others like it to stir the shit pot honestly. So let's hear some of these scientific facts/calculations you've done to reach the conclusions you have. You aren't contributing anything with your arguments that have no real meaning.

he wants attention..
Ask yourself what the reason of that post was and be honest to at least yourself. Here, gave you some attention.

Second time you make that claim an reflect your own behavior on me without backing it up. I proved you wrong on your false prediction on the limits of our future technology by showing it already exist. I showed you nasa does not recommend white leds but is too heavily researching light recipes, with very recent research opposed to something you have read and vaguely remember. I showed you can only revert to your single argument, par watt efficiency. I showed your pathetic attempt at appeal to authority by your misplaced inappropriate mention of people at Gavita to make that par watt efficiency more than it is. I showed you are not capable of having a factual discussion and producing valid arguments and quickly revert to ad hominems. Attack Sativied instead of his valid arguments. Look back and see when you started with 'you' instead of 'your argument'. Those, neither your false claims I refuted, change any of the facts I posted. Silly pigeon. The reality is that your lack of reason has disqualified you from debating me. How you twist that in your head is no concern to me.

You changing the argument every time I prove you wrong, posting red herrings and straw mans, doesn't equate to me ignoring valid arguments. To be valid they have to be, above all, relevant.

You're like an old grandpa with his ham radio and black n white tv, telling all the kids that there's no future in the internet, cell phones and HDTV.. Its amusing.

I hear no mention of the article I posted?! Furthermore what else is there to discuss?! You actually admit that some LEDs output more usable light per watt than hps. You can yap all you want but at the end of the day LED is and will be the future for some time. You can surely stick with what you are using or wait on incandescent to catch up lol. There will be fixtures within 1 year putting out 3.0 umol/j. You can say the only advantage Cree Cob LEDs have is higher par per watt but that's one huge ONLY LOL. You've never used a Cree Cob LED so until you have real world experience you really don't know what the hell your talking about. When you finally do accept the truth I'll give you 20% off your first order lmao.
