Hey guys, I still haven't fount out the best places to pose questions I have. I hope here is ok. can anyone advise me on wattage for a 5'x5' tent?
I'm thinking I will go with HID's but not sure what wattage to use. 400, 600, 1000?
any of those will work as long as you can control the heat, as for forums, try newbie central or general marijuana growing (indoor). Lots of help threads there ;)

Hey Roseypeach, great looking grow you've got going. :)

I have a Green Crack in my mix this run, first time I'm growing it. I'll be interested to see how yours develop. Mine is by far the smallest in my group (the others are an Oregon Diesel, Blue Dream, and GG#4). It's so small I had to put it up on an inverted pot to get it closer to the canopy, and its still a foot lower than the rest. I've heard good things about it, but I've also read this description:

"Green Crack has branched into two genetic lineages, the most common of which is its sativa line descended from Skunk #1. The 75% indica variety of Green Crack is said to have come from an Afghani strain, and is marked by a tighter bud structure."

...I have no idea which lineage I have, although when I picked the clone up from a dispensary I was requesting Sativa dominant hybrids, so hopefully they knew what they had. Either way I'm sure it will smoke nicely.

(edit - I'm a day shy of 6 weeks of flower)

If i'm correct, these were gcxgdp f2's. We have four female mothers from seed, and these were the best two cuttings. Due to the clone box taking a tumble (stupid dog related error), we don't know which is which, but we do know that the two cuts are from different moms. We are topping today, and keeping those cuts for the next dwc cycle, while we take good and documented cuttings to fill the new tent. These two are our first, and this is the first time flowering any of them. All four moms from seed are still bonsai'd for future cuttings, once we decide on the ultimate keeper ;)

If what you have at 6 weeks is what we can expect, we are totally stoked! That stuff looks great!!!

In the future I'm going to try and push the dispensaries to give me more info on the breeding of their clones, but I actually doubt they have any. No one seems to care enough... yet. Maybe as more people get growing there will be more discerning buyers.

Just to be clear, the first pic is a close up of the GC. The second picture is looking OVER the top of the Gorilla Glue #4 colas, and the Green Crack is that little runt in the back corner... They are nice looking buds and she's very healthy looking in general, but damn, this ones got no stretch.

I can understand that completely. Cat has taken a couple dozen strains to f6 and further, but no one seems to care about stable ibl's. Cat wants to get back into breeding for true to form plants, and bitches about pollen chuckers all the time :p

We have overvegged these two so we can max out the 1kw lamp. Hoping for two pounds, but cat says he's going to throw a wrench in the cog; he plans on a screenless scrog by removing some of the largest fan leaves at initial flower point. I'm trusting him, i've seen his pix from when he used to run 10kw in flower. Fingers crossed, hope we get a good run!!!

I will let you know how my GG#4 does. I'm glad I'm growing it, because it seems there are several people here on RIU that are and it gives me a good point of comparison for how I'm doing! Some really seasoned growers, like hyroot and captainmorgan are either running it now or have recently. If you do a search you'll find a bunch of good info.

There are a lot of ways to get good results! My next grow is going to be with SIP buckets. I'm tired of top feeding/watering, but have no love for hydro. SIP buckets or bins (easy to DIY) seem to be a great hybrid grow method -- soil with a self-watering reservoir.

Cat says if we go bigger, we are going with a home-made aero/nft/swc/recirc rail system. He made one before from nothing other than what you can buy at lowe's hardware!

Looking at SIPs now, is this similar?
