Clearly, you've never done it...and especially since it was socially accepted I bet there were many addicts who didn't even realize how bad the drug they were using daily for theyr headache was

Please people where addicted to laudanum and then addicted to morphine until the (non addictive) heroin came about. It just wasn't as bad of a problem as prohibition created.

No, but there wasn't a heroin epidemic back then, if you were sick, you took a "dose" to feel better.
And that heroin isn't heroin today.
Junkies today would take that whole can in one session and be like "shit sucks"

No they wouldn't even the worst junkie I knew would take a gram in one shot but he was a dealer most junkies will top off with 2 bags of dope maybe 1/10th of a gram per bag and cut 1 bag of dope right now will probably have me sucking my own dick. Lol, But at my worst 2 bags tops but I bought fingers with less cut heroin is very strong nothing like cocaine just don't get hooked it's the best drug in the world IMO but I kicked that shit cold turkey that is hell.
