Cat says if we go bigger, we are going with a home-made aero/nft/swc/recirc rail system. He made one before from nothing other than what you can buy at lowe's hardware!

Looking at SIPs now, is this similar?

That's the idea, but a version I have not seen before (the part about using cloth to do the wicking). Here's A LINK to hyroot's thread where he talks about his. There are a couple of companies that make them, one that is expensive but gives decent info on their website is Octopot -- they use a cloth pot on top of the res, others use sort of a plastic pot inset into a 5 gallon bucket. Here's a quick image I found doing a googling "self watering planter" that shows the basic idea.

Thanks so much for the picture, but it still seems like a glorified hempy bucket to me. Cat has got me on dwc to ''get my feet wet''; this is my first hydro experience. I've never experienced growth like this in any kind of soil, even with a rez. But, i bet that would be sweet for our heirloom tomatoes!!!! :D

LOL... I haven't even done my first grow in one yet, so I've got nothing but ideas, no personal experience. So far I've been 100% soil, my biggest move was from plastic pots to cloth! There are differences between this and hempy, I'm just not qualified to make the distinction.

You hit the nail on the head with tomatoes! Check out this site... its all about self-watering tomato planters, and they have downloadable DIY instructions for how to make them. :) (which should also work really well for mj, indoors or out)

Fuck yeah! You are my new best friend (for maters)

Thanks robby! With the droughts we've had, these diy's will help us kill it this year! Supposedly we have one more frost coming, and then planting season is ON!

You are welcome. :)

We've been having hail storms all afternoon, nearly beat the blossoms off the cherry trees... but they're hanging in there. In my neck of the woods we finally had a good snow pack in the adjacent water source mountains, so we should be OK for water this summer. Good thing, because we're already doing a lot of planting and there's lots more in the plans. As far as MJ goes, I'm planting late this year (June 1st) I want to keep them small. But I'll start popping seeds in about two weeks, I think.

Looking good Rosey. I'm gonna be trying my hand at outdoor this yr. Been an indoor grower for last few yrs. Still trying to get a handle on when to put them out. These mtns have a late spring and early fall so gonna be an adventure to say the least.

Wow, did you guys have any vehicle damage? We saw that on the news, some of that stuff was coming down as big as softballs! Hope you guys survived it alright, but thank god for the moisture right? Give me a link so Cat and I can follow your outdoor adventures. We'd like to put a couple of cuts out in the wilderness as well but they will be strictly hands off until harvest time. Miles of hiking just to get to the site ;)

Thanks Russ! I got you on them mtns, that's what we're doing too! You need a south facing side to get ample sunlight. Cat and I are going hiking this summer to find some spots that are at least a four hour hike from any highway or road so that we might be able to get some of that good outdoor ganja  thanks for coming to my thread! Please stick around, there's plenty more to come ;)

Um... no, not here, not softballs! I'm in NW Oregon... did we have hail that big? It was more like peas. No real damage. And I don't have a link yet, maybe when things get going I'll fire one up. My wife is OMMP, so we have to walk out the back door to tend to our girls. We live about 100 yards from a police station, so hopefully no one will rip us off. :) Being legal is really strange, I'm still not used to it.

No shit, we are highly illegal here (no pun intended) but to have your wife on the program is desert after a full and fattening meal! Hoping for the best in November, but the Carolinas are probably going to be the last to jump on the bandwagon...

:weed: :weed: UPDATE!!!!! :weed: :weed:

we got our tent up today! This thing is huge! It damn near takes up half the bedroom..lol There's plenty of room for accessories and another HPS. This has been a true labor of love, a little here and there this past year and a little help from a friend (you know who you are ;) ) we have arrived! :D

The ladies are lovely as ever and now residing in the comfort of their new home. As you can see they are really blowing up, I can't wait to see what happens once we set the timer to 12/12.
