I wouldn't say chicken manure is the greatest amendment that cannafarms could be using, but given its low cost and broad npk (6-3-2 for chickety doo doo brand), it's definitely good for industrial applications.

ChickenFuel is listed at 2-2-2 for NPK. The sarcasm didn't translate well when saying "latest and greatest",.

This is why people shouldn't buy compost that costs 1.49 a Cuft and expect anything more than sub-par results.Imagine what goes into this steer manure diet, probably gets fed the lowest quality feed you can find..How many dewormers/hormones/antibiotics are used? Probably A LOT considering it's only a 1.50 a bag.

Agree with you 100%, that's why you'll hear me say I worked in a garden that did "x" vs I did "x" with my garden. You can definitely win cups with organics, but just like cooking food, quality of the ingredients is everything. Subcools misinformation probably isn't helping the organic cause.

My wife milks cows at a small organic farm near us twice a week. It's on a share system where at the end of the year they add up what the total cost to care for the cows and devide that by the gallons of milk produced to come up with a per gallon cost. She makes yougurt, kiefer, cheese, butter, cottage cheese to name a few and we get the raw milk and cream. They use DE as their dewormer when needed and no antibiotics. The best part of this deal for me, besides the killer cheeses, is she brings home about two wheel barrels of a mixture of cow manure, alfalfa and hay each time she milks. I mixed that all up with lots of leaves and compost it. This compost comprises half of the humus portion in my mix. The other half is from my worm castings. Makes a great canna soil!

Sounds awesome! Gotta love all that homemade food! I hear that raw milk has great benefits for plants but I've never been able to source it. Maybe I should talk my wife into finding some dairy farm work! Lol

Horse manure is notorious for weed seeds. Hot compost that before use.. or better idea.. dont use it.

With a horse, it only goes through 1 gut!
Ruminants (in this case cows) have 4 stomachs.....They chew their food several times and seeds are destroyed in the process!
This multi microbial based digestive system makes for superior composted manure!

You don't see farmers shooting horse shit on fields do you? Now why do you think he's giving you 2 dump truck loads?

Horses eat grass vs. cows that eat grain/silage, also less chance of meds/antibiotics/hormones.

They also leave more nutrients in the manure than cows and it breaks down faster having more green material in it.

I'd stay away from any composts that come from a major distributor as their agenda is not pushed to meet the organic gardeners needs properly.

You're a licensed composter and your talking about nutrient value of manure?


... We're not looking for nutrient value out of manure, we get nutrient value from kelp, neem, gypsum, rock dusts, fish bone meals, etc..

We're looking exclusively at bacteria/fungi content hence why dr who brought up the fact that cows have multiple microbial based digestive systems..

Still don't see any sources..

Btw, I could give two shits less about the compost market when it comes to selling and buying 1.50$ dollar bags because I know the quality isn't there. You know how I know?

As I stated in the thread it was for an extra boost in flower. Actually burnt my plant and I stopped using it.

I wasn't using horse shit. My mix was cow manure/hay/sawdust/dead deer.

I'm doing as nature intended and making a nice fertilizer while I'm at it.
