We screwed up. My partner accidentally sprayed monteray's once a year. Instead of normal bug spray. About an hour after realizing this. We sprayed them down thoroughly with water. Any suggestion of what to do from here. I am curious to see how the respond over the next few days.
thanks!!!

Hmmm washing it off may have helped with the residue. But whatever got into the plant cannot be removed only absorbed. So all you can do is what you are doing wait to see what problems if any this error caused.

Depending on how much he sprayed them, I would consider trashing the plant and starting over. That is a systemic pesticide and is absorbed into the plant where it will stay. You will be smoking and/or eating poison if you consume the plant.

Imidacloprid has a half life of 26 - 229 days if it gets in the soil......If you had not washed it off - maybe 44 days in the plant, tops!
Sad part is you washed it off and it's now in the soil!.....Long term in the soil! The plant will be up-taking it for a long time!

By using the plant material you can ingest it. I have not studied it's toxicity in crop transfer to humans consuming it!
That's because I won't use it! NASTY stuff in my book - proven to be part of the cause of CCD in Bee's!

May I ask what you were attempting to kill or simply do?
