All I can say to you is read, read, and read some more!!! Since I started my room all I can tell you is that I have hundreds of hours into the room and research. Spend quality time on the Al B Fuct thread and do your best to not make mistakes. YOU WILL MAKE MISTAKES!!!!LOL I have many under my belt as I write this and I am due a few more before I am finished. When I do make one I always tell myself that this is a learning curve and move on from it.

AIR, WATER, and LIGHT Research the hell out of it here there is a ton of different ways to do the same thing its just up to you on how you want to do it.

As far as your room goes AIR, WATER, LIGHT spend enormous amount of time building the room to maximum quality of these 3 things. When you do one thing ask yourself “Self if I do this what does that do to the rest of the room” Air affects water, Co2, smell, and circulation. Water has air issues along with PH issues. Spend money on a good PH meter!!! Light affects air (heat) think of it as a big circle, everything affects the other and you will be fine.

I don’t know how many times I had to redo something ( i have moved more electrical outlets than i care to tell) because I got ahead of myself try to think ahead, walk though it then build it. It will save you time and money.

I would use a simple nute system to start, you don’t need to be worrying about if you mixed a 3 part nute right.

Good luck I will be watching this.

I'd add a tds pen to that list.. You'll probably only need pH up, or pH down, but not both.. Personally I don't care much for the larger RW cubes.. I always put the 1.5" right into the rocks.. Are you planning to tie down your canopy somehow? And what nutes do you plan to use?
Tis a decent list though..

If your water is basic, then it effectively works as pH up if you add more, and vice versa.. So if you add too much pH down, you just need to add some water & nutes to the tank..

I would start with an EBB and Flow system to start Al B fuct has a great diagram of one on his thread. Your going to need more timers one for the lights = 2 one for the pumps = 2 and i agree with born2 kill rock wool is hard to work with in my opinion i moved away from it just because it has a learning (Lesson learned ) curve and starting out you don't need curves.

whats the size of your grow space?
u know where to go to get these things?
if not ill give you a couple site well known for certain products.

High Tech Garden Supply (low $ on lights)
Grow Lights, Advanced Nutrients, Hydroponic Supplies and more at Hydroempire (low priced nutes)
http://cheaphydroponics.com (low priced grow boxes n nutes)
my grow space is about 12x6 It's in a bathroom with a shower, the shower is one of half size-stand up style. So I was thinking about using the shower as part of the room and the rest I could fit a 4 x 3 area or so for flowering or for veg, with ebb flow of course.

Thanks alot, I have a vent in the room as well, I was thinking about running a duct up to there with a filter b/t the exhaust of the room and the duct.

I know I will make mistakes, as far as light I was thinking 400 hps and 400 mh with different areas. I could go higher in the HPS, which i might do.

With the TDS pen, what exactly does this measure, I know ppms, but I don't have a solid understanding of it quite yet; however, I am a quick learner:)

So, one for the lights and one for the pump right?

What else do you guys use instead of rockwool??

Re reading your posts You will really want to spend some time planning where things go. Put the tanks and tubs where you think you want them making sure they work there. being this is a bathroom and not a plain old spare bedroom you might come up on some logistic issues.

Also check Craigs list for used equipment people always think they are going to be the next big grow only to find they cant do it so they dump the equipment.

WOW you sound alot like me when i started. I can tell you can get this because your asking questions.
