Cutter Electronics: Complete DIY COB kits

Gonna hook up my lights together later today. The dc out on the 400w driver has a red and green wire, does the red wire (positive?) go into the negative of first cob?
are you talking about the dim wires, led output wires are brown and blue, the other wires are for dimming?

Question for the tech's,
I just rec'd (2) four cob cutter kits with 36 v cobs, and planned on running drivers with standard 120vac. I also have single phase 208vac. Available . Can I use the 208, or am I better off staying with plan A?

To be honest man, I don't know if the high leg will have any negative effects or increased efficiency on a driver. If it was a motor or pump, hell yes. Unless you get a firm answer from a qualified person or electrician, I would stick with standard 110v Ac.

I just bought same config as cutter , CREE CXB3590 reflector kit:
(3500K CD 36V 80RA)+(Ideal 50-2303CR)+(Ideal 50-2300AN)+(Reflector KB-D82-90RF) + MW led driver HLG-185H-C1400A
at kingbrite led for 300 bucks.
Now i 'm gonna buy this as heatsink

2 cobs on each , that i will complete later with some olson red and some far red and even with this, it s more cheaper than Cutter


Cutter is a little bit expensive ....

sounds like a sweet setup. I look forward to seeing some pics and seeing how it works out. I havent seen many people utilizing those Rapid led heatsinks for grow lights, I know a lot of reef tank enthusiasts like them. Should work great for an actively cooled 4 cob configuration. you wouldn't need the capability to run 5 cobs (like the driver in this kit anyways). I just hope you dont have any problems with the T-slot grooves leaving air space behind the COB. Guess you can be the guinea pig for the community here and see if this leads to premature failure of the leds.

Jerry at Kingbrite is a great guy, I order a lot from him and I dont even mind paying the extra 5% paypal charge and the pricey shipping. I am sure the knock off LEDIL reflectors that he sells will perform similarly to the real thing. I ordered a bunch myself just to have around and test out.

This kit isnt for everyone. If you don't mind marking, drilling and tapping holes for cob holders and optics there are some savings to be had. However, if your time is very valuable, or this process intimidates you, it is worth considering. cheers.

Yeah i thinking bout this , but i will buy thermal pad for this , instead of putting thermal grease .
Well , i dunno if i will buy this heatsink or processor fan as i got for my vero29 setup , thing like artic 11 you know.

Cuz LED didn't warm as an hps ok , but the fan like artic 11 alpine blow the hot air towards the plants :/
this solution is low expensive than the rapidled fixture, but it will be more hard to put some monocolor red around the cob you know , got to make own fixture , got to have tools and time to do it ....

Hi Dimebagor,

Yes, the two heatsinks in those pictures are the same.

Two VERO29's plus the photo reds should be fine on the 20" version if you run the fan with it. We've run three VERO29's on that heatsink (two at 2.2A, one at 1.75A) with the fan and it was okay, so I think two at 1.4A plus the photo reds shouldn't be a problem.

Ok , so growmau showed diagram for dimmer wires, i have two pairui's (LGSU250-C-1400D) mine are
0-10V (ppl, purple)
10V yellow
GND (gray), so i want to run both through a single pot, twist both pairs of equal colors, solder the purple's to the center term., and the yellow's to the far right term.?, and the pot should be 50k ohms and resister at 5k ohms

That's right! Most pots I have encountered are setup that way.

@welight @Growmau5 is the Cutter site labeling the pairui drivers correctly? The lgsu200-1400 can only run 2x36v cobs? Or isn't it supposed to be 4? Because the 185 says it can run 3 & the 250, 5.
