Will these NPK(Cal/Mag) numbers work well for a first time?

Hey there,
After reading much information about growing plants needs and nutrition I have come up with a basic mixture. Which consists of a mixture of a Jack's Fertilizer, Cal-Mag Plus, and a Fish and Kelp solution.

Will these ratio's work ok assuming I use everything in moderation?

I just want to use a simple process for the first time and keep learning about everything else as I go.
This would be in Soil.

Growing 20-10-25(3-2)
Blossom 14-35-20(3-2)

Yes? More or less I will be using a basic soil mix and just wanted to know what I might be missing.

The Soil would most likely be potting soil, vermiculite, peat moss, perlite, and Mykos Mycorrhizal to use with the soil.

Do you think I would have to have limestone or anything else?

I am still a couple months out from actually growing anything just trying to cover some basic things after reading so much it's all like spinning around in my head......

The only 'advice' I can give you or anyone is to read and learn and then apply what you have read and learned to your garden and you cannot fail. Anyways, remember the search tool is your friend...Lots of folks here willing to help a new farmer get up and growing. But at the end of the day your grow will be only as good as the knowledge and work you put into it.

It is always great to ask questions but do not take anyone's advice or opinions and follow blindly. Do your own research, you will be much happier knowing you have done it for yourself and by yourself. The first buzz you get from your own budz...is by far the BEST high you will ever have!

Do a search using your current question as the keyword(s) and ZOOOM!! Like Wonka's Great Glass Elevator…off you go to tons of threads answering all your questions. Read all the Newbie Central stickies and learn…

After that you are a seasoned vet. Because to soak up all that information and sift through it, is going to take time. You will likely finish your first grow by then. Viola! grow complete and education well under way.

It seems from your thread you have a good start on the learning part. I researched for many moons before popping my first bean. No substitute for knowledge my friend.. I sense you will GROW very far!!!

Hey thanks! Yes there is a lot to learn and I definitely can sense it's going to take time to get used to all of it and then apply it to what ever I am growing. For this first time It will be my own medicine I am growing and I want to make sure I don't get to far over my head and start out simple so I have something to work with going forward.

Yes, it takes time to learn and attain knowledge. But, don't underestimate growing instinct. That is a component many are lacking in, but it is necessary to be able to 'listen' to your plants.

IMHO, anyone who cares enough about cultivating quality medicine to learn all they can whenever they can...cannot be anything less than successful.

Alright, After reading more about what I did buy.....I think I got it!....lol.

I will have when normal watering.with RO water.

18 5 25 (2.2 Mg/3.2Ca ) Jacks Palm w/ Cal mag nutrients/vitamins - Growing ratio ( 3.6 - 1 - 5 )
12 30 20 (1.7 Mg/3.2Ca) Jacks Blossom w/ Cal mag nutrients/vitamins - Blossom ratio ( 1 - 2.5 - 1.7 )

Start with and add every couple of weeks or so or when needed to bump N / P a little to balance things out.
Kelp and Fish Solution 2-5-0 ( 1 - 2.5 - 0 )

I will probably have to mix both Jacks & CalMag w/kelp & fish in the middle transition to end up with 1.4 - 1.5 - 1.7

I also have found a couple of guidelines recently to go by with NPK ratios......This stuff is really interesting and it looks like you do slowly adjust things during the entire growth cycle slightly from start to flower to finish.
I notice the transition of both is at 1-1-1.

A lot of this seems to depend on what water source you are using and the Ph and nutrients.

VEGETATIVE:
Seedlings 2-1-2 : 2 - 1 - 2
Early Vegetative 4-2-3 : 2 - 1 - 1.5
Mid-Vegetative 10-5-7 : 2 - 1 - 1.4

Cycle Changeover 7-7-7 : 1 = 1 = 1

FLOWERING:
Early Flowering 5-10-7 : 1 - 2 - 1.4
Mid-Flowering 6-15-10 : 1 - 2.5 - 1.7
Late Flowering 4-10-7 : 1 - 2.5 - 1.8

I am all about gaining knowledge and will never discourage anyone from getting it. But, I also agree with what @dannyboy602 said...don't kill them with kindness.

In relation to this post it seems like you may be way over thinking this. And time and time again we have seen people paying to much attention to small details and then freaking the fuck out when they see little issues popping up in their grow....After all, they did it perfectly by the book, so why is the plant not perfect? 99% of the time...these growerz come running frantically to newbie central asking and sometimes demanding to have the solutions NOW!!!

I understand the excitement and over-zealousness a new farmer feels...been there done that and got the hemp fabric t-shirt...
But, nothing kills more plants than parents loving them to death.

And while, I don't agree with calling cultivated cannabis just 'weed' ..in the end it is a living organism and wants to grow as healthy as possible so it has the best chance to propagate...which is what all nature is all about. So relax and have fun with it!

Way to much work. Love Jack's though. I give an EC of .4 until they look a bit hungry. Then bump up depending on uptake of water. By the time they are a couple foot depending on strain. By then I'm up to 1.2 or so EC with a couple ml of calmag. That is each watering. I grow in promix. I switch to bloom after I see some good flower set. And up the EC and calmag. Works for me. I watch for tip burn, and leaves being to dark green etc. No big deal. I'm not a grower. I copy others and learn enough to grow my weed. Great weed. Better than I can buy in my area.

Heh don't worry.....I did plant some and grew some for a couple months about 30 years ago in a closet with a humidifier, grow n show, and fan.....It was not hard..I did not get to see the end of that plant had to leave out west, but the thing had a purple stalk and purple through the leaves and smelled so bad like a skunk when you opened the closet door it was a bout 3 feet tall. Very prolific plants and hardy for sure. I simulated storms with rain and wind.....fun stuff. I just used Miracle Grow...My main thing is I have never seen one finish budding and would love to see that happen.

I have grown a few gardens since then over the years of vegetables and the one thing I do know is they kind of grow by themselves you just have to make sure you don't kill them.....lol. Kind of like some people and house plants I have known they either dont pay any attention to them and they die or they totally over do it and they die.

I am a math nut so I just like to know whats going on behind the scenes with the numbers.

I still have a while before I even get started.....Growing some tomatoes, herbs, and planted some fescue grass on the lawn in the mean time. Gives me something to monitor and get used to growing stuff again.

Heh....I turn 50 this year...I'm getting there...


Oh yeah I forgot just planted some nice Beets and Spinach in deck planters the other day!!

And yes Home Grown is the only way to go!

I won't be doing that much at once only 2-3 plants in a 2x2 or so tent, but I am sure I can get the max off those allowed........The one thing I am going to have to learn is how to do a perpetual grow where I can always manage the amount to under 2.5 OZ..........One of those patient self grow laws....dammit!

Still debating whether to just grow one of those auto's to get a feel for things and then working on a 12/12 plant.

We have power outages once in a while out here and I just wonder what happens if they get more than 12 hours darkness or not enough light and if that can totally throw them out of wack...
