My spur of the moment grow

For seed sprouting in soil I soak the seeds for 24hrs, then plant in already moistened soil, cover with plastic wrap or bag and 1-4 days later they sprout. Have you tried this method for soil? If so, I hope your new attempt is/will work for you. Good luck! bongsmilie

I did not try just soaking the seed before putting in soil, I did the paper towel method first. I did put each seed in individual pots and wrapped them with saran wrap. Didn't work for me. I dont know if it's the paper towel, been reading that paper towels are treated with chemicals. Or that I missed my window and leave them germinating too long. I also wonder if they're being exposed to the light too long when I'm transferring the seeds from the paper towel to the soil. I dug the seeds up after almost two weeks and they looked exactly the same as when I planted them. Squeezed the seed and the tap root squished out, it just looked like goop.

The neat thing about the rapid rooter plugs is you can throw them right on top of the soil. So I'm really hoping this works because it was simple. But because ot was simple I have my doubts

Here's my two girls roughly 37-38 days from seed. Those medical strains are some resilient plants, too bad you don't get the same high. I didn't realize how bushy they were getting until I was standing over them adjusting the lights. The bigger one has some problems, but is still growing. Looks way better than yesterday, the drooping sad looking fan leaves were just killing me to look at. I still see a little red on the stems but definitely not as dark as it was yesterday. Only a couple leaves that look bad, I think I caught the pH problem before it got too bad.

When you put the seeds in the pots and covered them, was the soil moist? The same thing happened to me with my South African Kwazulu and Afghan Kush seeds. They never sprouted and the seeds were dead. I blame myself for not making sure all of my containers were moist before planting since seeds like high humidity. I'm gonna try rapid rooters this run. I think it will be easier. Your other plants look good.

I think I did the opposite, I belive I drowned my seeds. I think I was keeping the soil too wet. Rapid rooters are so easy tho, soak them then gently squeeze the excess water out and they stay nice and moist. You can feel them and tell they're still moist and the color looks different (a lil darker) when they're wet versus dry.

So I planted a few feminized seeds today since I'm on a roll lol. 2 Jack Cookies and 1 Pure Kush. I planted 3 Bog LifeStar seeds and 5 Afghani seeds in rapid rooter plugs and all but one LifeStar has sprouted. The last one is working its way up and I can see the tap root coming thru the bottom of the plug so it's just the slow one. My tent will be crowded but I have bad luck with regular seeds so I wanted to add a few feminized seeds. If I get some boys that will free up some space. I do have plenty of CFLs for supplemental lightning.

My older girls are looking better. My pH was wayyyyyyyyyyyy to low. I was basically watering them with acid rain. I goofed on what I should have be ph'ing my water to. I like the pen meter but I prefer those drops that you can compare the color right to the label. Hopefully they'll continue to improve and it looks like they're starting to grow again.

So these are my Jack Cookies (fem) that sprouted. I definitely only planted one seed but one has two sprouts. There's also two tap roots coming from the bottom of the rapid rooter plug. Not sure what to make of this. The other one sprouted as usual and there is only one tap root.

I planted 1 Pure Kush (fem) and it sprouted as well, already has it's first set of true leaves.

I planted 3 BOG LifeStar seeds (reg). All 3 sprouted but then one flopped over on it's side a couple days after it sprouted but the other two are doing fine. I got rid of the sickly one, my tent will be crowded anyway and it was a regular seed. I planted 5 Afghani seeds (reg) in the rapid rooter plugs all sprouted and are doing well. I have them under my MH light but farther away so the light isn't as intense. I transplanted them into some small pots filled with Fox Farms Light Warrior soil. I love rapid rooter plugs, transplanting was a breeze and caused very little stress.

Fed my older girls yesterday, they seem to be recuperating. The bigger one still has some problems and I'm working on it. The fan leaves are all turning yellow and brown the stems are still red and weak so the fan leaves are hanging down low. I've been making sure the pH is spot on with that one. The top of the plant looks so beautiful I know it will be alright as long as I stop messing up.

I cut away the dead leaves so this

Is now this
20160317_202950.jpg

The other plant had a couple dead leaves on the bottom but not as severe as the big one. I have been checking pH of the runoff water as well and the plant has started growing again new, seeing light green new growth. I do plan on moving them to bigger pots this weekend. They will be put in 3 gallon pots and that will be their final home. When I get them in the 3 gal pots then I'll probably start LST. I had planned to flip them to flower 4/1 but since they're recuperating and I have new seedlings and no separate tent for veg and flower they will be be vegged longer than I planned. I also should wait until they're healthier if I want to try and take clones. These are my medical plants so while I do want to take clones I probably wont take that many because I want more recreational bud than medical bud.

I transplanted my royal medic plants in 3gal pots 3/20. The roots looked like I should have transplanted them 2 weeks ago. I'm wondering if some of the deficiency problems and leaves dying was due to the plant being root bound. I did start having problems about the time I feel I should have transplanted. The leaves were still yellowing even though I have been watering with the correct pH but after the transplant they both look good. New growth coming in fast! I won't be able to tell if the lower leaves will stop yellowing until I've watched them for a few days. Looking at the roots during transplant let me know that 3gal pots will not be their final home like I originally planned, time to get some 5 gal pots.

Seedlings are doing good. I have them under the MH light just moved the light higher until they're ready.

Happy 4/20!

Haven't posted in a while, just been super busy. My plants have been doing okay. Battling heat and some deficiencies here and there but otherwise they're coming along fine. The bi-polar weather we're having almost 90 degrees one day then 50 degrees the next hasn't been helpful. I made a DIY swamp cooler so the next time we get hit with hot temps and it's not yet time for the AC I'll be ready. So I've been feeding, making sure I don't water too often, checking the pH of the runoff water etc etc etc but I still have problems with the leaves dying on my older plants. This is what they look like then by tomorrow they'll be brown and dead. And these leaves are scattered all over the plant from top to bottom.

My younger plants I topped today, topped them later than I originally intended to. I have been sick and had someone else helping me that doesn't really know what he's doing. But he is helpful with the electrical and hardware stuff ( I am a chick btw) and the heavy lifting but he doesn't know anything about weed. Doesn't even smoke it. Lol. I need to start LST'ing the big ones. I probably should've done that already too. I did have a schedule that I'll need to re-do because at this point I'm not sure when I'm flipping to 12/12.

I attempted to clone yesterday. A couple have flopped over, but were weak and weren't really viable cuttings to begin with. I also took more cuttings than I really have the space for. I took some cuttings from my Reg Afghani plants so the cutting I took the plant from was given a certain color craft stick and labeled with a number so that way if Afghani 1 turns out to be male but Afghani 2 is female all my clones labeled Afghani 1 I pull. I figured this way was easier than trying to flower the reg plants then re-veg them when I want to take clones. I've even seen youtube videos where ppl wait for the clone to take root and flower it and then they'll know if their plant is female or not, but I don't have the time for that.

I plan to flip my girls (and hopeful girls) to 12/12 tomorrow. I only vegged the smaller plants for a month, which I prefer to go at least 6 weeks, but the big plants are getting so big I'm worried about them being too big when they stretch during flowering. My older plants were topped twice, the smaller ones only once. I could only get a couple viable cuttings off the smaller plants but found some great ones hiding under big fan leaves that were never going to get much light. Idk what kind of yield I'll end up with for my first run back, but I'm still excited and taking notes so I know what to fix for next time.

It's been a week since I flipped my plants to 12/12. No sex showing yet (not really expecting them to so early) but they did stretch. I was in such a rush to get more plants going but thanks to my two royal medics I know what not to do. They are very resilient, I've fucked them up 100 times, so they are the ugliest two plants in my tent, but the other plants look almost perfect so I definitely learned something. I even split one of them down the main stalk, duct taped it back together and it's still growing fine. My boyfriend keeps saying I should give up on the plant but that would be like giving up on one of my kids, you're not gonna be a doctor so you must die lol. But as long as it's growing, and it's a guaranteed female I'm not giving up on it. I'm really excited and can't wait to start getting bud pics.

My clones still look about the same. Had three that didn't make it so I threw those out, the rest which I think is like 12 or 13 still look the same as the day I cut them from the main plant so I guess that's a good sign. Can't see any roots yet but it's only been a week and clones take at least 2 weeks to root I believe. I mist them everyday and keep just a 45W CFL on them 24/7.

I am curious about Royal Medic as well, would love to see how effective it is against my back pain. I have another medic strain.... Cancer's worst nightmare from TDT, I think that I want to check out next. I do want to have medical bud but since it's not the same high I will probably only do a couple medical plants at a time. I do smoke more for recreation than for medical purposes

wish I could say the same. I have a hard time using it recreationally, high thc strains really take a number on me. I have read some studies though that cbd can help a lot for mental illness, on top of which i've got a really messed up stomach, and so this is kind of the last straw I'm grasping at here. I've spent the last three years in bed and it sucks!
