Nitrogen Toxicity? (First Grow)

Hey all I've got two plants started indoors now being kept outside when its nice and not rainy. Each is about 2 1/2 months old.
Grow medium is MG Organic Choice (yeah yeah I know) with perlite mixed in not sure of the ratio though. I havent added any nutes yet aside from whatever MG puts in it. Usually I water them every 4-5 days about a half gallon each until theres some runoff.

One plant has developed several clawlike leaves most of them fairly new growth while many other older leaves have a yellow streaking. Its hard to describe so just check out my pictures.

What kind of deficiency or toxicity am I dealing with here? I'd like to keep
Thanks in advance for any help you guys might have. I just got the General Organics GO box bit it looks like I'll have to hold off on the nutes for now.

Its well water. I checked the PH earlier in my grow and it was about 7.

The only signs of pests I found were these eggs. A couple leaves had one or two spots where something was obviously muching on them but they were small and there were only a couple leaves affected.

Would neem oil work to get rid of any pests residing in my soil?

I picked up neem oil and a gallon sprayer from home depot because there were lots of gnats hanging around my plants.

After giving it a good soak they havent come back which is a plus. I'm not sure if they were fungus gnats or not though; they're about 3mm long.

Anyone have a clue what might actually be causing the leaves to look like this??



EDIT: After doing some looking around could it have been caused by broad mites?

Try fungicide 3 from Walmart....only spray ur plants before lights out and in vegg...let ur soil get real dry ingredients root aphids will surface hit the base with the fungicide 3

Like starve the plant of water it will be fine all the pest will surface once they have nothing to feed on...u can also use peroxide with ur watering..... To draw away the gnats put a cup of apple vinegar in ur grow room

Never heard of root aphids before. Could that be what I saw when I mived my soil around? There was one little white hopping insect of some kind less than a mm long that hid itself under my soil pretty quickly after being uncovered.

If thats what it is I'll look into treatment. i just want to be sure before I go all willy nilly with the chemicals.

Or larvae...either will eat ur roots and cause wilting and abnormal growth....just do as I say buddy lol

Sounds like fungus gnats laying larvae in ur soil when the soil goes dry the larvae will rise. ...let me be clear....here's what u do...water...wait 3 days when ur pot is light but not bone dry treat the top of it soil with fungicide 3 or a garden safe organic pesticide....wait another 3 days or till ur pot is super light bone dry.then water with half cup peroxide mixed with water and repeat ur process...also he vinegar and spraying foilage would be a good idea for the gnats already flying .. Only spray ur foilage with the approved pesticide in veg...not in flower on buds...and only right before lights out so u don't get them burn

Wait if Fungicide 3 is neem oil shouldnt the triple action neem oil by Southern Ag that I already have do the trick?

I didn't see much. just a little leaf curl.. def not N tox. if anything jus an over fert.
also for fungus gnats just use a product called Gnatrol.
nitrogen toxicity starts with the leafs curling downward then the leaves get really dark..
over fert causes leafs curl sideways like that. just lightly flush soil. and don't fertigate with anything above 750 ppm while its that small…..

Up until Tuesday I hadn't used any fetilizers. So maybe the roots made their way into a particularly hot pocket of soil?

Also I didnt realize my plants were too small to start fertilizing. They're about 2 1/2 feet tall. I'm not sure of the strain but I know the bag it came from was some really crystally bud. It may have been white rhino, Zeta Sage, or Strawberry Cough. There were only two seeds in the 1/8th and both sprouted and have both shown their sex as females.

dude…. way too much to do.. you don't have to make it that hard on yourself… for one killing the fungus yes will kill the gnats food but also the beneficial fungus in the soil… I would just use Gnatrol maybe in conjunction with your neem oil. bounce back and fourth between the two.. it will cost you wayyyyyyyyyyy less take less time and work just as good.. your plants won't go though so much stress either… Gnatrol look it up!!!

Not sure what ya mean but regardless drying ur soil out is the only way to get rid of the larvae ..in fact eggs can take 2 weeks to hatch obviously uve never had a severe gnat problem .if he's not using any benies I doubt he has any growing. Better to kill the bad then worry about the non existent good.do it right the first time don't go half added yes its work but its the cure lol.... But that's my opinion and everyone has o be

Yeah I was gonna omit that hydrogen peroxide bit. I'm going for organic as much as possible, notnsure if Ive got a "living soil" but I dont think I wanna kill off what beneficial critters I might have.

They are not too small to fertilize. Just be aware that every fertilizer company recommends a dosage rate way to high for young plants. They do it to sell more.. and trust me i work for one of the largest soil and fertilizer companies in the u.s. I would recommend feeding with half the recommend rate at first and slowly building up to full dosage..

I would guess your problem is simple. do a light flush and let them dry out. then feed em real light and slowly build up.. the fungus gnat issue isn't really an issue they are a pest but not a huge issue.. don't stress your plants trying to get rid of them. do it slowly they will go away. and on your next run just use preventive measures… I would recommend gnatrol. your all good though man dont trip.. it will all work it self out...

I appareciate the help guys. I know its several months away and I'll likely have other issues between then and now since its my first grow but I'm already getting antsy to see how it all plays out lol

Hydrogen peroxiced will increase ur root health if u have any rot or pythium from the larvae or bacteria...but what ever
