It won't be too hot inside of my box?

It shouldn't get too hot with the low watt hid. I have a 1000 watt in a 8x4 tent, with a good fan, and exhaust to a different room. I run a steady 80° in the light, sometimes cooler.
Once you switch, it's over with the cfls for flower lol

I thought that was a calcium def Bc I had water with 0 ppm and only had flora gro in it....it started to get worse so i decided to have the flora micro overnighted and started using tap and ph down. The new growth looks good and the stems are now green and not purple...I figured it boiled down to ph probs or ca def...I didn't put hardly any gro in my solution this time Bc I notice claws almost immediately after giving fresh nutrients so I gave very low dose...oh my ppm was like 600 ppm with 28 ppm Dasani water and toxicity was showing so I switched to 350 ppm tap with nutes came to 625 ppm. Seems a lot better no probs and growing fast...also using hydrogaurd.

I googled 150 watt hps systems, and found a good one for $90.

Yeah I'm probably gonna do that as soon as I swap out my harvest....the girls are really taking off....

Consider a small hps if you're going to grab more bulbs. Once I got around 200 watts with cfls, I switched to a 150 watt hps. The difference is huge, and they're a lot cheaper now I think.

I'm going to Home Depot to check out my options...so this is best for flower? And will it be ok in a cab that is 3 ft tall?

Unless you're good with electrical, I would go to a grow shop online. High intensity lights require a ballast to run. You can't put a hps or halide in a regular light fixture.
Google Sun system atlantis, it's a cheap but effective light. If you had that, you could train your plants short, scrog them. I didn't realize it was 3' tall. If you go with HPS, make sure you vent your cab, and run a fan in there constantly. It will take some tweaks, but you could run hps in a 3' cab.

Well it's been a little while and the girls are slowly growing. My AK is suffering a bit. The white widow has taken off. This grow has been a trip so far. I have had more emergencies and overnight deliveries than one would wish..and I have spent more money than I had hoped, but I'm learning and that's what we all have to go thru our first grow. First thing I realized is that when u have a small cab, u can't put adequate lighting. As much as I would love to put in an led or hps, it's just waaaaay too hot. I realized that all CFL bulbs are NOT the same size. So I can only use 23 watt CFL lights. Now I know it's not going to be enough as I have around 100 actual watts but the girls are stretching and I'm working with 2,160 lumens so all I can do is wait and watch. I just entered 2nd week of 12/12. Next time I will keep the girls seperate Bc my AK is quite different than the WW as in its VERY sensitive to nutes....the bottom leaves have endured stress and defs...and nute burn but I'm keeping watch over ph and ppm...anyway I have kept them tied down which helps create 4 tops on my WW...2 on the AK

Also, I know I won't be getting much bud, but I live in a 2 room apartment so room and stealth are my 2 biggest things....I would be happy with a few grams lol!!!

I grow from seed I never tried clones maybe down the road I might I could try it I do got a bunch of plants I could take a few cuts from n see if it works but maybe I'll try it next grow I just flip to 12-12 fee days ago and I got 3 flowering 2 almost done

There light burn on a leaf and a little something going on with another on the AK but that's been corrected. I ordered a few more 40 watt cfls and tied down more this morning as the stretching is happening....so far, so good!

Wow. I'm kicking myself right now. I had some maxi grow and maxi bloom delivered with my box but I was an idiot at the time and didn't know what I was doing so not realizing that maxi series has ALL I need beside a booster I ordered (and spent waaaay too much) on the GH flora series. I still had my maxi bloom so I changed the water Bc the ppm reading was ZERO when I woke up (?) and my reading is now 1200. Now I didn't even have to use ph down with the maxi bloom!! And I don't have to add different solutions Bc it has EVERYTHING. N, P, K.....and trace minerals as well(bye bye sticky brown micro grow!!! I have a huge supply now but feel it's all a waste!

Btw...I super cropped the girls and trimmed a few unruly branches and they are kicking butt. My 40 watt cfls will be here in a few and I'm about to add my little 6" fan and position and all that....I have quite a few tops....ill send a pic in a bit...

Just an idea, but have you looked at store bought led bulbs?
I used cfl in a stealth cab and a 23w cfl gave 1450L with light going in all directions. A 13w led with the cover off gives about 1750L and is also aimed straight down on the plant. I now have 9x 13w led in a 28"x 15" x 32" stealth cab, I used to have 6 x 23w cfl. I get nearly double the lumens for less watts and more importantly less heat.
You may not be able to alter your bulb holders to aim downwards, but if you can it is well worth a try.

Well I did not know that! Just the Led bulbs u can buy at the store? I thought about getting an led online but I don't want to light burn my buds when they form

Yes, the household bulbs you get from any diy type store or supermarket. If you (carefully) pop the cover off you get an extra 10-15% more light as well. I am running mine about 4 - 5" from canopy top with no problems.
