Are both reading temps in the tent? Then one is not correct I would guess...a bit more info would help...like what is your regular gauge? Have either been dropped and or stored in the junk drawer where they are jostled around? Try this with the digital to calibrate it, Fill a glass with crushed ice. Add a little clean water until the glass is full and stir. Wait for about three minutes before inserting the sensor on the thermometer into the ice-filled water. Wait for about thirty seconds and check that the thermometer reads 32°F. If it does, then it is accurate, but if not, it requires calibration.

They both are in the tent an I have dropped the digital one a million times sadly but it's brand new an the other one is just an old one with the red liquid in it an who knows how old that is. I will test out the digital one an see

I put the digital temp gauge at the bottom of the tent an in the middle, it's reading the same so I'm just gonna have to figure out fans an cooling cause it's hitting 83.

I'm assuming then that you arent air cooling the lights.
It's normal to have different temps at different heights. Might not be the instruments at all.
Try putting them in the same place and see if they match up.

my tent gets up to 86-88 sometimes and the plants love it. Wouldn't worry unless they get above the mid 80s.
