sounds like the bedroom might be better ... hmmm more space!, but it is pretty easy to add carbon filter+ fan to exhaust the closet.

if me I would do BOTH one for veg and one for flower.
I planned on vegging in one room, and using the closet for flowering. I have a decent T5 for vegging. What I guess I am having difficulty with or not wanting to do is make a totally enclosed environment. I think for a newbie and what I read, keeping an enclosed environment at the right temp, humidity, etc, can be more difficult and lead to more problems than not. I want to keep things as simple as possible while learning and slowly add things as I get better at things. There needs to be a growers guide for keep it simple stupid, that is me...I just think, I read and read, and no one agree's on anything, so one person says humidity here, another says keep humidity here, temp here, no temp here, these lights, no these lights, you need co2, then no you don't, I am bitching, I am a girl yes, but seems keeping things regulated is fine, if you know where to keep them regulated too......LOL, I feel very lost, the more I read the less I understand...my career is based on science and fact based practice, so I find the multiple opinions of great growers that clearly do not agree with each other confusing to say the least...

Well this is a 4 bedroom home, one is used as an office, but 2 are unoccupied. I have plenty of places closets and dressers to put our clothes in. I think I had said in a previous post that I could take a room and just use for growing, but using a large closet, seems more ideal and does not waste the space of using a whole room to grow, when I do not need that amount of room to grow. Would prefer to keep the room for guest and family to use when they are visiting... I guess something that seems to me should not be so complicated, well heck, I do not know. I want to keep life as simple as possible. I work, and long hours, want things to be simplified. As trying to understand why I need a separate ventilation system for a large closet, if I do, I do, but I want to understand why.
Lights give off a lot of heat and plants give off a ton of moisture. If there is no air exchange this will gradually increase over time. You may also need a dehumidifier and that alone can equal a small window Ac to match its heat. As far as ventilation goes it's always recommended to have a charcoal fan/filter to help cut down on odor at a minimum. It can just recirculate in the room.

What I would do is monitor the temps, if they get to high with the single vent which my guess is it may. Hook a fan to a controller that kicks on and is triggered by a thermostate switch. Possibly vent it outdoors or to an attic. These cost around $80 and a cheap charcoal combo is under 200 on Amazon.

The only problem with venting air outside of the house is In return air will be drawn back into the house. Everyone over looks this. If it's hot out and your dumping 150cfm of air to your attic than 150 cfm of air will be drawn back into the house from outdoors. If it's hot out then your Ac will work harder or the same for cold air and your furnace.

I was teasing about the clothes. It just seems like with the thousands here a good percentage use a closet to grow. I use my kids room and my kids sleep in the shed while my clothes remain in my closet.

LMAO, and my dogs sleep in my bed and I often find myself out on the couch so I can have more room....seriously not a joke...lol
My closet is actually 7x7 seems a terrible waste to use a bedroom to grow in when I have so much space in this closet. No reason to grow in the closet for me other than it is large, has tile on the floor instead of carpeting, walls are white, it is private from the rest of the house and I keep this room really cool during the day as I sleep in the room off of this closet as I work nights and sleep during the daytime...

One of the biggest problems with growing and keeping things perfect is as plants grow they transpire more. Higher humidity, more dehumidification, which leads to more heat. Lights go from smaller t5's to stronger hps or LEDs. Which leads to more heat. An exhaust fan controlled by a thermostate should always keep your numbers in check if your inside a controlled environment within your house.

My temps are higher since I'm dumping tons of co2 into the room aswell. 1700ppm @85 degrees. But 74-78 without co2 is good and humidity between 40-50% lower humidity equals more watering and thankfully at 70% I only have to water these monsters once a day lol.

I'd start with less plants then you think you should. This will help keep everything in check. As you learn the environment you can increase as you feel more comfortable

thank you! How many would you recommend to start with?

id say 2 plants. It's strain dependent too. I'm doing autos and have one that takes up a full 4x4 and is 6 feet tall. While others are much smaller. But it's easier to have more space than less once plants start growing.

A 4x4 closet full of plants needs to breathe requiring substantial exchange of O2/CO2 and humidity.
The air conditioning vent while helpful is insufficient because it is controlled by the needs of the rest of the house, not the temps\humidity in the closet. Especially important when lights are on. It would probably be adequate to figure out a way to exhaust air from the closet into the central air system as long as its controlled independently of the house hvac.
Not true
Hvac comes from fresh outside air being pulled into the house thus the need for filters. Do what I do and vent a 4" duct right Inot your tent using a 4" inline fan. But if you use the whole closet then you're already golden.

and where is the thermostat that turns the air on and off ?

If you're pulling air from a sealed duct straight into your tent, youre pulling in fresh air.
I never said it wasn't. problem with the house hvac is its controlled by the thermostats someplace else in the house. It doesn't normally run just because the lights are on in the closet. get it ?

No, all I'm saying is its a great way to bring in fresh air rather than recirculate.

I can agree with that... I especially like your avatar!!! I will show you my Boxers later!!!
Where should the humidity stay in the room?, is there a range, and temp range?
I Love All Animals. I Would Love To See Your Boxers

I Like To Keep My Humidity Around 40% And My Tent Temp I Like Between 76-82 That's In Flower Now In Veg Both Your Humidity And Temps Will Be Slightly Higher :weed:
