This came in last night. Vyperx Plus with Controller. Driven by MeanWell 600w driver (I believe the highest output they make). Well, at least all that mouser sells. Anyway... Blinding light. You will see spots for a long while. 550w draw when hooked up to the kw/meter. My only issue is the dimmer/light controller, which was suggested. It is hooked up to the light by a 3.5mm jack/aux cable. You have to snip off one end to expose the wiring. Eight wires to sort through. 3 wires (red, white, yell) on the aux cable. 5x wires on the driver to figure out which wire goes to which wire. Dangerous for anyone who just wants the light with a controller. At around $1000, the driver should have a female receptacle for the jack.. Just my opinion

Yeah. For sure should have dimmer and driver built in..... Hmm I wonder why they did that.
I wonder that myself about other companies... sell a 1k watt light but don't make it dimmable... it doesn't do harm, it's about same price, it actually makes it more dynamic. I would love 1000w but can handle only when the weather is colder, in summer maybe I wanna dim to 60%, that will give more efficiency and longer led life.

Very curious to see how hot the unit runs at various points on the units. Especially something close to the leds, Tc

This is really unacceptable, the customer shouldn't need to splice wires to make Fluence's products work together. You need to send them an email letting them know that you feel this is unacceptable from a customers perspective, and urge them to better integrate their products. These should be integrated (or modular), not hodge-podged together by the customer.

Thanks for the warning though, I'm planning on getting a few Vyperx Pluses myself, I will kindly refuse the suggestion of getting the dimmers, if they try to push them.

My honest opinion as of right now... I'd pass... This is completely passive... there are a few things I could say. I want to talk to the company first, and get their perspective. I'll update

So these PCBS use Phillips LumiLeds Luxeon. How good are these compared to crees monos? I don't know much about them.

Welp, for $270 4 PCBS with multiple reds, deep reds, blues and a few irs, plus the driver and cables, it's a pretty damned good deal, and ill be buying them regardless. They're gonna make my light kick so much more ass I reckon.

@ttystikk better comparison; absorbable amount of light at the same level of consumption. Your thoughts?

Might ask V if he can shed a little light on these diodes for us. Judging by his attention to detail, there is a reason he selected them. I was really only Interested in the performance of the unit in its entirety. Hopefully growmau5 gets his 650w soon so he can offer up his thoughts.

@Growmau5 plans on buying one of Vitalys 650W units? Is that 12 (4x3 horz/vert ducted, water cooled) of them? At 50w ec, isn't that 13?
