Newer grower with a question

Hello everyone I am Redemption,

Im a newer grower and I have run across an issue that I havnt for sure seen an answer to.

I think is what my problem is but I want to be sure before I do anything. Pictured below is one of my babies. Of the plants I have its the only one I cracked from seed. It is a Blue Haze Strain and is 20 days old at this time.

When I first put her in soil she stretched just a little so I made some light adjustments and the stretching stopped. However I was looking at her today and I noticed this:



Above the cotyledon leaves the stem is much thicker than below them. What should I be doing about this? Is this like the thread I linked above where I just need to bury them up to that point or will the area below thicken up over time?

Welcome to RIU, and the wonderful world of cultivating the world's most misunderstood and feared medicines!!!

The only 'advice' I can give you or anyone is to read and learn and then apply what you have read and learned to your garden and you cannot fail. Anyways, remember the search tool is your friend...Lots of folks here willing to help a new farmer get up and growing. But at the end of the day your grow will be only as good as the knowledge and work you put into it.

It is always great to ask questions but do not take anyone's advice or opinions and follow blindly. And remember anyone may have a well-known member status…but that means they have posted and responded to many threads and does not always mean well-educated growerz. Do your own research, you will be much happier knowing you have done it for yourself and by yourself. The first buzz you get from your own budz...is by far the BEST high you will ever have!

Do a search using your current question as the keyword(s) and ZOOOM!! Like Wonka's Great Glass Elevator…off you go to tons of threads answering all your questions. Read all the Newbie Central stickies and learn…

Soaking up all that information and sifting through it, is going to take time. You will likely finish your first grow by then. Viola! grow complete and education well under way.

Personally, I would just let it go. I might tie a toothpick to the stem for support. This all IMHO get others input as well.

I started her out in a small party cup of MG seedling mix and then from there she went into a pot yesterday with Sunshine mix #4 I have not fed her any neuts yet. Being a Sativa strain I am a little afraid to throw in any neuts yet as I know this strain tends to be finicky and sensitive. She drinks A LOT though She almost wants to be watered every day.

The drooping is something I am perplexed about to be honest. On the days I water she will droop like shes being overwatered (even though I assure you at the time I was feeding her with a dropper) and then by next afternoon her leaves are coming back up and perky by day 2. also because of the way the wife tried to block the light from the cabinet the temp may have spiked slightly because this plant and my much larger Diamond OG plant had some light yellowing on them by the next morning.

at 20 days what sort of feeding would you recommend to such a small plant?

Yeah when she was bending over a little I used a wooden skewer and she was able to self support within a couple of days. Im thinking I might just put another one in to help out just in case.

OOPS...I just saw the Sunshine mix...IMHO this plant is fine and does not need feeding of any kind at this stage. The medium will feed for a while longer. As for drooping between waterings...nothing to worry about.

Awesome thankyou. I have 5 other plants as well but those are all clones of other plants. This is the first I have taken from seed to plant so I wasnt sure.

So I should expect the stem to fatten out all the way down like tropicalcannabispatient was saying?

Yeah just try to find a good distance for the light, If she still stretches then drop the light every few days untill it slows/stops.
i think i also see a mag/zinc lockout or deficiency starting and a little N toxicity. Are you feeding or something?

Just straight ph 6.5 water I think the plant got a little hot and that might be the reason for the odd coloration. I have another Blue Haze OG plant that is in Bloom and it seems to be a very temperamental plant in comparison to my other strains.

To be fair to the plant it was just transplanted two days ago from a very mild seedling soil to the Sunshine Mix #4 that it is in now. Im more so curios about the stem than anything else. The top half being very fat and the lower half being so skinny.

LOL fair enough. I just wasnt sure if I should be bringing up the dirt level or just leave it alone. Looks like Ill just let her do her things for awhile and see what happens

i recommend u to try 1/4 strength veg nutes every 7 days and alternate with water in between

when i see the first two small leaves in the bottom get yellow., thats her way of telling me she's hungry., if u want u can let her do her thing in that sunshine mix and see if she can get what shes lacking from that soil., if it doesn't get better in a week feed her at 1\4 strength., and about the stem that almost always happens to me., it will get thick all the way down equally don't worry is normal. Gl

Im pretty sure the messed up lower leaves is the result of something else. The plant is sprouting happy looking fans.

I could be wrong Im not an expert or anything but theres been about an inch of growth in less than 24 hours and no other signs. Here is a picture of her taken 5 min ago and you can see the inch of growth from the height of the support rod that is in the dirt. besides the lower leaf what are the signs or indications that the plant is hungry that I am missing?
