It works by slow evaporation. I used approximately 2 tablespoons of the granules to make that entire bowl -- which is now sitting in my garage. The commercial product is called Ona.

If you've already got a jar of Ona, it can be recharged after it evaporates by simply adding febreze or renuzit. (I like a combo of both.)

They are essentially white lava rocks. You can get them at wal mart, lowes, hd and other places.
Once a year put them in the sun for 8 hours to recharge them.
