Netflix is a decent value at 12$/mo for checking into television series.
It totally is... I accidentally have Amazon Prime (they got me with their free month offer when I forgot to cancel at the end), and it includes a lot of streaming content, some of which I was pleased to find (stuff I like and stuff I never heard of and liked, and may not have found otherwise). It comes out to $10 a month (I use it mostly to buy stuff... free two day shipping is great) but it's more limited, so if it was only for their streaming it wouldn't be worth it to me.
I think one of my main issues is just the whole rigamarole. I recall the first time I saw cable (early 90s)... especially the programming time guide... I probably thought I could watch whatever I found on there right then just by choosing it... I don't recall, but of course it didn't work that way either... but it planted the seed... the programming is all on media... if I could get a list of all that one place had available, why not be able to choose what to watch and when? Lots of reasons actually... but then the internet and digital storage came along (I mean their popularity in the public market, not that they were invented then
) and now it all just seems like greed and politics. I don't want to contribute to that. When I can pay, let's say Time Warner (owners of... well look it up) a small fee to access any of their media at any time... one that still makes them and the actors producers etc money but is reasonable to me, I just can't break out the wallet all that much..
