Cloning with nothing but an airstone and a bucket of water

No, I've just had so much better success from mists. Like 4 Days Later I'd have roots
DAMN! 4 days?!?!
I've never had roots that quick!
Are you using anything in your cloner water? Clonex? Nutes?
Have you experimented with different mist droplet sizes?

....like you said with the bubble cloner, it's essentially an aero cloner if the stem isn't submerged in the water; it's the popping of the bubbles on the surface that mists the stems. I never even thought of this.
In fact, I want to go back now and try it this way and see if it works! You might have just given me a new method to try haha!
SCIENCE!!!!!

With my aero cloner, I just go RO or tap water with about a tsp of kelp to help rooting and maybe some aminos.
I've also noticed that I'm getting slightly better and more consistent results if I make the stems of the clones slightly longer (5-6 inches), but only have about 1 inch extending below the neoprene into the mist

PhD 5.8 r/o. That's it.candling clones with the stem all the way down the puck to the first leaf/node. Lots of stem in there.

Hey bud excellent thread. It reminds me of a DIY I would like to try someday. i haven't yet but, this DIY project and thread might be a good read for you. I'm gonna read it again myself actually. Hint. It's a bubble cloner.

I didn't hear about the additive... but I'm slightly dubious? Like I said, I don't have personal experience with it, just what I read (I'll try to find where). I'm dubious because I have some experience with similar things: blueberries: some people use sulfuric or phosphoric acid to acidify their blueberries soil, and while you can use something like PH down (which uses the same thing, diluted) you can also source commercial stuff and dilute it yourself, without worry of contaminants. DEPENDING on exactly what alternate use it has, which defines how pure or impure it's allowed to be.

Which was my other point. Yeah, the stuff is more powerful, but you dilute it yourself. Bulk savings baby, bulk.
My girlfriend works in a salon and no they don't dilute it but I guess, the best place to get it if you can is a water filteration company but they do ask lots of questions lol. Same with the sulphuric acid I buy, the stuff is pretty hard to get here, again they ask questions so need to be prepared, I know lol. I tell them it's for my saltwater tank with an auto ph thing lol.

Find out about the purity and dilute it yourself, score!

I get my acid from the auto-parts store. Battery acid. Pure and fairly concentrated (but not so much a little spill will eat down your house or anything, just needs care and quick cleaning) no questions. But then I'm not using gallons of the stuff... I just have 4 blueberries and a few other things that go through a lot of acid... and in pots no less, so you know, gotta keep the right level....

I get mine from a battery wholesaler, tried a couple of auto parts places and was told they weren't allowed to sell it :(.

NO

I read a post where dude just used water and a bubbler. Nothing else. I tested it out on a kali mist and got roots in 10 days. Once you put the clone is soil it will be sun tender for a few days. Here are two White Nightmare been in the bubbler 24 hrs. No mist, no covering, i'm in no rush.
So you basically just cut a branch and drop it in? Do you ph or anything? This is exactly what I plan to do if I ever clone. Simple, cheap and easy. Excellent example of a simple tech. Perfect.

Must be a local ordinance... too many people in your state/county/city chopping people up ;-)

I don't know if there's shipping restrictions to your locale (which is usually the case if they can't sell it retail there) but a lot of online retailers never even check, since that's so much work (I used to work in wine/liquor... we never checked about dry or controlled sales counties... pffft more work to lose sales?)

Well you don't get her to deal with it, silly rabbit, tricks are for kids :-P. just to get you access... owner or whoever will be more likely to see it to you, and for not over cost unless they are greedy, when they know you in some way. and tell them is for your garden.... so long as they don't know you as a stoner grower type (you know what I mean?) you can say it's blueberries. Or get her to buy it, same thing. Finesse my friend, finesse :blsmoke:

I imagine they use 3-5 gallon jugs or the like

I think I may have to give it another whirl...this time not putting the stems into the water!
I also have an idea for an aero cloner with a much finer mist than what you get with the standard spray nozzles of an EZ-Clone.
I bought the nozzles and pump, just never figured a satisfactory way to interface the nozzles with the vinyl tubing (I kept getting leakage) but I'll solve it eventually.

What kind of lighting do you use over your clones?
Could that be the difference maker between 2 week vs 4 day rooting?

Ya thats all i did. No pH, just straight city water and walmart $5 bubbler and stone.

The first time i dropped a bit of aloe in there. I doubt if it matters. I gotta find the dude that originally posted the idea and give him credit. he suggested using a lilttle piece of of foam with a hole for the stem to keep the cutting floating. I did that the first time.

YAY for learning and experimenting! AND learning some more.

I've heard of sourcing H2O2 in lg quantities from beauty salons, or the shops that sell to them, and (I can't recall which) other such businesses. Never needed that much so I'm not sure.

Have you ever heard of/tried Air Layering? Used a lot in other woody plant propagation... not efficient for large qtys (I don't think anyway), but interesting.

For the life of me I try this air layering stuff every now and again. I'm 0/6 thinking I will try again in a couple weeks...

Haven't done it in a years but we used peat and cheese cloth or just plain plastic wrap. Cut a 2" slice up and almost to the centre of the stalk. We would use a sun leaf stem to hold the strip out a bit and wrap the thing with wet moss and plastic, it can't dry out or your fucked lol. The reason I haven't done it in years is why bother lol. I gues if your in a remote field and wanted to get clones this would work, or just take cuttings home lol. Back then it was thought pot would not root well using traditional methods and it seemed really hard to clone those strains that were around
