Nanolux vs Quantum?

Which would you choose if they were both sitting in front of you? Either the Nanolux 1000 watt digital ballast or the Quantum 1000 watt digital ballast? I can get two of each for $299.95 right now just don't know which is better and why. Thanks! !

both of the are similar and just average I would pass on both but I would do some serious thought on a digital badass ballast https://www.amazon.com/Baddass-Light-Electronic-Ballast-1000W/dp/B0047LTWRK square wave technology . also serious thoughts on solis tek ballasts . these 2 ballasts are the best ballasts on the market for the technology . these 2 ballasts will produce more (par ) then any other ballasts on the market . there are test on growhouse videos on youtube showing solis tek having 40 % more par then a magnetic ballast and if I rem correctly 30 % more then the quantum . do not buy from the place I posted they have them on ebay about 250 bucks . 1000 watt badass and solis tek is about 220

people seem to like nanolux more. even though it's from china. Quantum has gone down hill in quality since hydrofarm acquired them from Discount hydro / R&C engineering

i would seriously pass on the mini ballast . from my experience talking to a LOT of people all i do all day long . most mini ballasts have a lot of issue creating static in cable tv so on an so on . may get a cable guy banging on your door telling you to turn it off ! the lumatek cali serious is known for it 9 out of 10 sent back . mini ballast .

i would do 2 600 solis tek ballasts then you can dim them both or run full power . better light spread more options in dim same price as a 1000 . but you need to buy another hood and bulb .

Both are fantastic ballasts with proven track records and both have excellent warranties and American product support teams.

If this helps, the biggest differentiation between the two you mention is that the Nanolux can be controlled, dimmed, programmed, turned on and off remotely via a DTU/RTU (basically Wi-Fi)--wirelessly.

Additionally, Nanolux being a factory branded product, will usually be available at a less expensive price point.

To put things in perspective, for a time Nanolux actually made the Quantum ballast.

My suggestion is that if they are being offered at the same price point go for the one with the most features or the one with the features that best suit your grow needs.

You can never go wrong that way.

Cheers.

Dont the higher lumens come from the extra wattage the ballasts consume so they are infact a higher wattage than their ratings eg 1150watts based on E=mc2 equation where you cant get more without putting in more?

My 600w draws actual wattage of 660, some lost to heat, if i wanted extra id buy a 600w that draws 700w and over.

I went with 4 Quantums. They are working wonderfully. I'm honestly amazed how much brighter these are than my old (8 or 9 years) magnetic ballasts. They are so much brighter that the ballasts run cooler but the room temp is slightly higher because the bulbs are running brighter.

Interesting... Ccf of 1.1 but the power supply forms a low freq digital square wave, might be efficient on the bulb but that thing better have a good warranty because the power supply would most likely be the first to go. Personally id take the solis any day.

its not all about lumens . its all about par this is why I suggested the solis tek or badass . there are a lot of videos showing a par measurement . check out you tube monster gardens they test a lot of ballasts for par

the quantum ballasts are a bullet proof ballast indeed . proven to preform so for quality these ballasts will last years

If i wanted more par id use a more suitable bulb, par is just the plant usable light not really somthing that changes with the ballast although a higher wattage will give more par per bulb and total lumens. These purple bulbs are meant to be higher par but ive found white light the best as its a much wider spectrum.

When was the last time you replaced the caps in those old magnetic ballasts?
I just don't see how a new digi pushing the very same watts and bulb as a magnetic ballast could be much brighter.

But, i do know that the capacitors fade with time. We always replaced the caps every other year, to freshen up the ballasts again.

lmao they have NEVER been replaced! Honestly when I hooked the digital ballest up I did one at a time and for a minute there was a digital running next to a magnetic and the digital was brighter after about 30 seconds of being on. So i went and grabbed a few things from the other room and came back a few minutes later after it had been on for say 5 minutes or so and holy shit....to my eyes it appeared twice as bright but realistically is prolly 50% brighter. These magnetic ballasts are OLD. I mean so old that when I bought them they were like $199 each cause digitals were not even big then and there was only 1 or 2 grow shops withing a 5 hour drive.

If you had never replaced the caps, I guarantee you that those magnetic ballasts weren't giving you all they could have;-)

Some of my friends still rock my older ballasts that were put out way before digis came out. Keep the caps fresh and the ballast is still good.
