White widow CFL grow

So I got a seed from a friend that he claimed that was white widow, I held on to it until I was able to grow it. So I set up a grow box with 4 6500k CFL lights, a simple Walmart fan and some y splitters.

It seems to be growing OK but I appreciate any info or advice. The problem I seem to have come across is that the leaves curl a little on the edges and seem it's not dry but they aren't soft like a plant leaf. Purple stem as well but since I started adjusting the pH to my water it seems to be trying to get greener. I topped it once so far and I feel like it responded pretty well.


These here are just some other seeds I planted and will transfer later. Seem to be stretching a little but probably because I need more bulbs. I'm still playing around with ideas of how to increase light.

Yes, it will. Wait till the pots dry up before watering. Small plant in big pot = easy to over water especially if your under cfl's. Try less water in that big pot. Looks like you saturate the whole thing

Yeah I water until I see run off but I'll have to stop drowning it then.

I would definetly get the CFL's closer to the plant. 1"-4" should do it. Otherwise they might strech pretty bad or just not get enough light.

Yeah I was thinking the same. I was wanting to drill some small holes in the side to put up a poor strip and get some sockets from home Depot and put up a row of CFL light nears the plant in he cups. The plant in the pot seems to grow everything I look at her though. I topped her about a week or so ago and she is still splitting like crazy. Well,hopefully it's a her.

It's in a 45 gallon tote. I was thinking of letting it veg for 5 weeks and switch to flower all depending on how big it may get during veg. I only have but so much space.

If you plan to veg that thing for 5 weeks, you will need to prune the hell out of it, or get another tote and double the area. Even with a hybrid like WW, a plant that stays in a vegetative state for 5 weeks is not a small plant. I prefer to veg for 2-3 weeks, and run more plants more often. That being said, there is a large following here at RIU that grow TREEEEEES. Insane. They veg for months.

Yeah it does make sense to veg it the way you say you do. I probably try it out and see how it goes. I'll have to go back in my calender and check the exact day I started growing it. It looks a little weird to me now though. The leaves are still curling a bit maybe due to a combination of overwatering and nitrogen issues. I'll load some pictures when I wake up (work 3rd shift) . I haven't watered it for about 6 days now trying to let the huge pot dry out so it's not drowning the roots.

You sure it's been a whole 6 days? That soil is wet! The leaves are drooping as a result from that. If you have the space you may want to try an oscillating fan and let it blow around the plant a bit. That can help dry it a bit better. Maybe poke small holes in the soil but keep the roots in mind. I used to have same problems, you should look into mixing perilite into the soil of your next grow! Helps a lot.

OK is been a while so I figured I'd post a few pics of how this baby is doing. She(hopefully) seems to be getting better since I backed off the heavy watering. I started to do some lst training today here are some before and after shots. It has grown a lot I think so Im happy with it. These pics are from the 18th

These next set of pics I noticed a while back and I think because I keep the a/c running at home and the fan inside the grow box might be keeping Temps low at night.

So here's my monster now. It's in flower light cycle now. Hopefully it turns out to be a female. I would hate to do all of this work for a male. I think it may have been going through a nitrogen deficiency due to me not ph'ing the water correctly. Now it takes about 14 drops of ph down to get it about 6.3 on the ph scale.
