yeah they dont fit my criteria

-inefficient (less than 100 lm/W out of the box)
-expensive (about a buck a watt, depending on size. our domestic bulbs are 0.30-0.50/W)
as airwalker said the $40-$100 would be better spent on a cob/driver/heatsink setup

I had a retrofit job for the basement to save some $ in elec. by converting 4' fluoros into LED w/ amazon/ebay replacements by ripping the ballast and re-wiring the tombstones.

It's old SMD tech but hits the 100l/W spec and has great coverage at a 50/50 mix of 3500K & 5000K @ 136W for veg.

Cool lights. You if you stuck a whole bunch side by side do you think they would get too hot?

Are they warm to hold when run for a while.

Only the metal and its not radiant its weird its only hot to the touch

not sure what that means, of course its radiant, its a heatsink

even one of these by itself get hot as heck. the base is a heatsink for chips run really hard. its hard to unscrew one thats running, its like an incandescent, you have to unscrew it a little and let it cool
