All kidding about grammar and punctuation aside, you have some very good points in there.

well here is a few cons for 1 u gunna tell me every cob is going to be perfect and also is every driver going to be perfect what about fans ?? also 10'000 hours life span it all sounds cool and the amount u use is great but say for a slight chance something goes wrong ??? not all people now how to work electrics some do some dont alot wing now for one what happens if u buy say a timber grow light and say one of the cobs shits itself half way thru ya grow ??? hmm u gunna pull the whole casing apart dig thru some wires to get to it then ordering a new one waiting for it to be shipped then reinstalling my plants would be fucken dead by that time or sending it back to the dealer is gunna take 2 weeks at most what do u do when the 10'000 runs up ??? i just change a bulb ? see were i am getting at with this leds are a awesome light dont get me wrong but u are gunna fuck you're self in the ass if something goes wrong
I'd sy the majority of us on this thread including myself could switch out a cob from a pre built fixture in a matter of minutes, no problem.

Other than the T2-1400 I'll be building a few T4-1400s, 6 CXB3590s on a 36" sink at 50w each... that's kind of a T6. o_O
g'day Rahz,
im really digging the new lights but having such a tight COB spacing
is there any hotspots with these new lights worth noteing?

Hi verticalgrow,

The PPF is a bit higher so the center point readings will be a bit higher but it's not going to hit 1500 at the recommended distance. At 50 watts each the hanging distance remains the same as the 2100 series, with a bump in intensity for the same wattage.

All the parts for my CRI par test will be here in about a week. I should have the lamps ready in about 2 weeks.

3000K/70CRI -vs- 3000K/80CRI -vs- 3000K/90CRI -vs- 3500K/80CRI -vs- 2700K/90CRI

Anyone want to predict a winner?

Another point of the test (part 2) will be to examine whether low K cobs produce more stretch than their counterparts, along with actual yield measurements. I won't consider the yield test to be highly valid since there will be only 1 test subject per lamp, but it should still be interesting. The veg/stretch test should be pretty valid though.

Would be cool if the 2700K/90CRI cobs veg well and yielded best.

This will be a grow test? Very cool! Get to see what ol' Rahz's got up his sleeve!

I won't be running the grow portion of the test, free lights for a specific set of test parameters. A buddy of mine moved to Washington a couple years ago and has been begging for some lamps to "test". Now he has a test.

Lets see... The higher the CRI rating is the better a COB is at producing color. The lower the CRI rating is the better a COB is at producing lumens. In regards to PAR I am going to go with the 90CRI COBs

Which quantum meter would you be using? Depending on the spectral response, results may be weighted towards the higher K temps if using something like Apogee MQ-200.

Edit: I also vote 3000K 90CRI

4now im going vert, thats it ! lol.
cob led and alien shit gotta be 4 later.
I got mites,lol.

Spidermites are easy; insecticidal soap, pyrethrin, Azamax all work, if you can alternate between them so much the better. Spray every 4-5 days until they're gone...

And then weekly forevermore! Add kelp foliar to the spray so the plants get benefits. Don't apply after the first few weeks in bloom.
