So today I cracked open a seed hull that germed but wouldn't get the cotyledons out. I've been having some serious issues with only a select few seedlings to start this grow that are just baffling me.

Inside the seed hull was ONE single fungus gnat larvae. So I checked my other dead seedling that had the same problem and the dirt from the same seedling and found no other larvae at all. So atm at least this infestation seems very minor. I don't know if I should treat them somehow, and I'm afraid if I do it will harm the plants bc the ones that did sprout are still so small.

Any help on what I should do? Should I treat all of the seedlings with 1:3 hydrogen peroxide: water? Or shold I let them be at this point? Of the 3 seeds that survived and sprouted, I hAve 2 that seem perfectly healthy, and one that seems to be dying for no reason. I'm thinking it's possibly from fungus gnat larvae in that cup as well. Should I maybe treat only that one? That one is in the brink of dying. Would the hydrogen peroxide and water solution kill it though? I've never had to deal with this.

Please any help on what to do is greatly appreciated. I am stuck.

Not really an issue to have a few fungus gnats. Only an issue when you have a ton of them. Put a little BT in your water and they will disappear.

might be a seed weevil & Not a fungus larvae
it's a dead seed in any case
some seed breeders / growers get weevils if they are not on top of pest management
whole banks in Spain & the NL have had bad outbreaks that showed up in fresh seed couple years back
the weevil sows a egg on each seed iirc

Interesting, never heard of this. So you are saying it may have actually came from the seed bank? This seed was from Greenhouse seed company, which I think is out of the Netherlands, right? That would make sense there is only one. I HAD a bit of a fly problem when I first started them, but they were fruit flies. Cleaned up and they are completely gone now. Figured somehow maybe a couple fungus gnats must have been in the mix, but I don't know, maybe it is this!

I just had the same problem. Had a couple rare dankness grape ox seeds that didn't want to seem to germ. When I looked closely saw those little miniscule maggot like bastards ate my embryos within the seeds. Was really looking foreward to growing them too.

Pretty sure they came on the seeds, as they were the only ones out of 12 that were infected. Every other breeders were fine.

Damn. Crazy! You'd think from the time they were picked to the time they were packed, stored, and shipped that they would die. But now I'm getting convinced this is the issue, since I have found NO sign of any other larvae. So maybe I can go without the treatment on the others
