21-27 dayschrist supe whats your veg period?
i have the pbp grow, bloom, and bloom for soil(last 3 weeks of flower) and i only grow in aero in dwc. as for additives i use liquid karma, silica blast, aquashield, sweet, calmag, and hydroplex. i have found through trial and error a very good recipe that is much lower in overall usage and have had great responses from a bunch who have tried it. having a bunch of jugs may not be worth it to some but you also need to design and build your grow to make it easier for you, this includes proper tools for everything. i can drain, rinse, fill with water and measure out all nutes in 10-12mins and this is using a 50gal res and includes adjusting ph. my nute cost from veg to harvest is less than a dollar per ounce of premium weed. thats worth it to me. if you would like to see a recipe breakdown it is in my thread, my 3 stages of flower, in hydroponics.what additives do you use with pbp?
Wouldn't doubt it. I gave their "1 part" CNS17 a run this last cycle and hated it. HAd deficiencies all over the place. I am going back to dry powders for sure. MAxibloom and or HYdro Research
Is there a reason you've used a convoluted analogy here when you could have just said what makes PBP 'their first stringer' in terms that better relate to growing plants?if you ask me thats like using a third string quarterback to start the superbowl and firing him because he loses. use the pure blend pro, its their first stringer.
or i could have just said what i did and everybody but the most snobby of us would get it. do your own learning, im done teaching. Is there a reason you've used a convoluted analogy here when you could have just said what makes PBP 'their first stringer' in terms that better relate to growing plants?
you can use their first stringer but "he" doesn't have all the necessary ingredients. When I run out of pbp i'm going to use superthrive, mg,humic acid, calcium cloride, epsom salts and some 0 ppm water. thats my team. Whats yours?if you ask me thats like using a third string quarterback to start the superbowl and firing him because he loses. use the pure blend pro, its their first stringer.
What teaching have you done in this thread? You've mentioned flavor, aroma and yield. You've also mentioned that you use the base and 6 additives. What makes PBP the 'first stringer' in Botanicare's line?or i could have just said what i did and everybody but the most snobby of us would get it. do your own learning, im done teaching.
hmm.. never tried pbp with tap water but I will try that out. What I find funny about the whole botanicare states" if you use pbp with ro water you should use cal mag" thing is that pbp has calcium and magnesium in it. I have actually done grows wit just mg + pbp grow and distilled water they came out very well. This was during the time that Pure blend pro grow had potassium silicate and humic acid in it, now it just had humic acid in it.
Ok, let's get some things straight.
Pure Blend Pro is not a 'complete' nutrient. But, that's not to say that the missing elements are not found in everyday tap water. Botanicare states that if you use RO water with PBP that you should use their Cal Mag Plus along with it. I can only assume this is because they assumed you'd be getting other minerals from your tap water. Someone metioned EJ micro blast. That's a great one to go along with it.
CNS 17 is their cheap-o brand. Commercial Nutrient System and was brought out to be afordable solution for very very large growers. Not their flagship. They tried a calcium encapsulation thing to do a way with the need to add Cal-mag. If you haven't seen it.. it's thick and white like snot.. Hated mixing that stuff..
SuperThrive can super suck it. Pass on that, you don't need it.
O yeah, I forgot about the juggling of the Humic. In Karma then not in Karma.. lolhmm.. never tried pbp with tap water but I will try that out. why do I bring up potassium silicate? before I was using pbp grow, i was just using tap water,mg, and epsom salts. plants thrived but in flowering those damn spider mites were all over the place. asked the hydro guy what can I do about this and he suggested neem oil. they didnt have any in stock so I was about to head out of the store. I remembered that I wanted to get some more nutes as my mg is getting low so he suggested pure blend pro grow. while waiting for neem oil to come in the mail, I started mixing mg and pbp grow together and noticed something... the very next morning, I didnt see any significant improvement but I did notice that the damage from the spidermites has stopped. over the past few days the plants thrived and the spidermite issue was non existent. Now I got some never been used neem oil that is sitting in my garage.
for example...

Derived From: Fish meal, composted sea bird guano, sea kelp, spirulina, soybean protein extract, rock phosphate, potassium carbonate, humic acid*, fulvic acid, citric acid*, raw sugar cane*, agrimineral 72 (silica clay extract)*.

notice the difference?
superthrive can indeed suck if you use too much. I have seen growers mess up their grows with it. I use 5 ml per gal throughout the whole grow except when i flush in the final week. Then that water goes on my tomato plants and boy do they love it. talk about 9 foot tomato plants!!! I probably don't need superthrive but since I got it on clearance at the hydro store i figure I might as well use it.
Sea weed extracts are rich in microelements. Lots of good stuff in there. Seaplex is a good one.I've had plants do fine in hydro with just PBP grow as a base.. I do add liquid kelp....
That being said, when im growing out seeds and selecting my keepers i always throw out the picky eaters. They might end up as the best smoke but I'd rather have my grows be hassle free
