Small DIY box - 150w Led

You could just put 1 or 2 AeroMax carbon filter pads over the fans. They're pretty common wherever air purifiers are sold. You can cut them to size. They're about 1/4" thick. It's all I ever use. Not going to mess around with carbon granules. BTW you may need a little more light in there after seedling stage. More like 100w or so.
totally agree ,, those carbon sheets work pretty darn good,, have to replace them at times,, but easy to do that also!!
yup hang some more cfl's in there,, hang as many as you can and still control your temp with your fans, and let it ride!

Thats a great idea buddy, thanks.

I was thinking of using one of those:

Also for the lights. Im just waiting the led that I buyed to arrive. It will be a 200w (true 100w) burple plus a 100w (true 50w) china leds. So the total will be 150 true watts. Think will be enough, maybe I can complement with some cfl's.

REALLY cool grow box!! I tried to convert one of those huge Rubbermaid bins into a grow box...I had 4 CFLs in there. The problem ended up being that my plant outgrew the box! So if you're doing a small stealthy grow like this, I think the STRAIN you select is VERY VERY VERY important (i just used a random seed). Cool project tho, will def follow.

Nice little setup you got, I would like warn you about buying low quality Chinese LEDs, they produce a LOT of heat. Good luck.
Thanks for the advice buddy but its all my money can buy right now. Also the shippinh from USA is quite expensive for me. I wish I could buy one of those good quality american brands but Ive seen some friends using the chinese leds and it was really good!

Dude the CFLs will allow you to have the plants very close to the bulbs,,. The Chinese LED have a set distance you will have to keep the plants Away from the light, often times this distance is more than 12 inches and you will run out of room

yes, but training my plants good will be the key for a good grow. My tent is short but not that short at all (120cm) Ive seen so many growers with smaller places and good crops so far ;)

Its all about what works for you. If your friends have had good success with the leds from china an they dont cost the earth I say go for them. Your setup has good fans for heat removal and as you can train the plant to grow low it should work okay. Some people on RIU only want you to do what they recommend, their interest is about themselves being the masters not helping out us who want to learn different ways. Go with what your friend have proven worked for them, keep up the good work, :joint::bigjoint::peace:

simply trying to help, and if you have considered the head space needed then your good to go!!

I have a mars Led 300 out in my barn, its bright alright, I modified the fans with aftermarket fans, so it runs perfectly silent now, that helps with stealth,,
if your china panel makes to much noise , I recomend a power reducer now, let me know if your interested I can send you a link about it

To keep heat down in the chamber I would suggest mounting the lights so that just the LED part is inside and the heat producing part is outside completely, except for some air exhaust holes. With that small a chamber you can probably fill in any open space around the fixture with some wood or whatever, making the part below the light separate from the part above it, where the heat comes out and where the exhaust fans are.

I don't know how you can do it with 2 fixtures though. Probably be hard enough to fit just one fixture in there. Maybe just stick with the 100w one and put a 23w CFL on each side of it if you think you need more light. If so, I would use the air exhaust holes I mentioned to mount the CFL sockets above so that the hot part of the bulb is up in the air chamber and air is being drawn through the holes cooling the bulbs while also ventilating the chamber. The holes would be larger than the sockets of course, to allow the air to flow, like 3" holes. Actually you can get LED grow bulbs that are only 24w, so you could put those in the sockets instead of CFLs if you wanted. Tao Tronics makes good ones.

I would love to know how this goes for you. I am thinking of putting an led around that size in a 2x2 tent. I have never used LED but have heard great things recently.
