Hey Lou, this is a favor to you. I would stick to reading and learning before you start trying to diagnose plant problems. You'll have more than just me trolling you when people find out you have never grown a plant. Or even sprouted a seed

I say bud rot as well. Not only should you cut that bud off, but you should inspect the plant from top to bottom. You could have bud worms in there killing the plant.

Just cut the rotten part away and put a fan on it...You should finish ok - - - just keep an eye on it!

PS, late addition = Gary is correct.....look it over very well! No worm in dead area is a GOOD thing!

I can see it now. (Swapped out my reading glasses.) I know almost nothing about the process, man, I'm just trying to gather and learn as I go.

I'm making a note of this "bud rot" so I'll know what to look for. Is this from excess humidity/moisture (mold), or an insect issue?
