Should I understand from this that the pf/w for the 1212 is @24"? 17wX2.5 =42.5, so half the distance equals 4x the light, so 170ish? 12" is about a foot, if my Euro brain is on board. So one foot distance between cob and canopy and one foot between cobs. Sounds like a recipe for some even lighting right there.
Still trying to make certain that the 6500K is it for veg, any input?

Btw, do you guys ship to Europe? I like to do my business with people who take pride in what they do.
we do ship to europe. and dont think of light falling off, it just spreads out. esp in an array like that with lots of influence from other cobs on the sides. if i doubt use a little more power and a little more distance to canopy. for a given ppfd at canopy, the extent of penetration is proportional to the height of light from canopy. for example if youre using cobs to get 1000 ppfd at canopy but at only 8" away, its not going to penetrate as deep. using more power/more cobs to get 1000 ppfd at 16-24" will give you a much deeper canopy.

Thus making it easier to supply enough light to babies than to fully grown girls. I always did have this hunch that the inverse square law thingy was due to increased space and not decreased light. Won't be vegging trees, a foot or two at the most. Would love them to be tight as can be at moving time though.

like if youve ever used a T5/T8/T12s fixture they do great but can only go 12" deep or so because due to the nature of the fixture most people run them a few inches from the canopy. but as an extreme example lets put 20 50W tubes at the top of a 7' tall 5'x5' tent and it would be more "HID" like in intensity. it would be too intense to be within 12" of it, but 12-30" below it would be relatively uniform (lower at the bottom of course, but say ~1000PPFD at top and maybe 500 at bottom which is still acceptable)

Hmm, the farther the top is from the, the fewer doublings of this distance are left on the plant. (If that makes any sense). So to maximize the efficiency of a system it's preferable with more than one veg light. One for babies and one for adolescents. Or rather, zones, just like the commercial lettuce operations I've been substituting for porn. Been thinking along those lines for a while, even more ammo.

Any thoughts on spectrum for veg? And if the optimal spectrum for one stage of veg is different from another?

any full spectrum will veg well, but if you want to get into photoinhibition tricks like shortening nodes strong blue is preferred like 5000 or 6500k

The tentative improvements are:

· Performance: 2% ~ 8% increase

· Thermal Resistance: 5% decrease

· TcMax: from 105degC to 120degC

· TjMax: from 140degC to 150degC

that sounds nice, citizen really upgrade fast their chips. I hope the improvments are big enough...8% sounds not bad

What is with cree? Jerry said, cree will release a new chip. no new informations? They are slow

jerry also said bin jump back in like april and that hasnt even happened yet

in any case, 15 degree jump in allowable Tc is no joke! that + the increased efficiency will really squeeze some mileage out of our precious passive heatsinks

so for example a 140x80 pinfin at 0.75C/W, 15 degrees in Tc is getting you 20 more watts so we will be able to run these out to close to 100W each vs the current 80W ceiling

i dont think so lol ,i veg 3 foot tall plants under t5 all the time.you really need to bone up on plants use of light

The picture you paint here is exactly my suspicion on using lots of under driven cobs vs a few at high power. Ya the total light produces is the same but it just doesn't have the power to make it deep into the canopy.
I wish someone would test this theory with proper meters

We will have an idea soon because your vero grow vs my light now in the 3x3. But yes I agree we need someone with the proper meters to do some testing.

are you counting the pot? that canopy is 18-24" max. not dissin your result at all, they look great but thats not 3' of canopy and youd be hard pressed to measure 200 umol 3 feet from a t5
