I'd like to first start out with this is my first cannabis grow.
I have always been intrigued by a plant that has so much stigma around it. How can growing a plant that grows naturally from the ground be so illegal?
I am a huge plant lover! Vegetables, peppers, fruit, anything beautiful and lush. I am a natural green thumb and have excellent gardens I've been growing. So I've decided to try my skills at growing indoor cannabis for fun and well.... You know why!
Specs about my setup.
Gorilla Grow Tent 5x5
600Watt HPS Xtrasun Bulb 2k
8" Xtrasun 84 Air Cooled Hood
8" Active Inline Air Fan
8" Max Duct Ducting
Couple of fans for circulation and have the tent negative pressure pulling air from bottom vent and exhausting out the top.
Ambient temps for the tent are usually between 78-82 during light operation. Canopy temps are around 78-80 degrees.
I have been watering with tap water that I have PH'ed down in the 6.5 Range.
I currently have the light on a 18/6 light schedule. And the light is approximately 14" above the top of my tallest plant.
I planted 5 Jack Herrer seeds on 8/25/2016 and they germinated on 8/29/2016.
Two plants showed faster initial growth and the other three have been behind the rest of the way.
It is now 9/18/2016 so my plants are almost 3 weeks old. I planted them initially in seed starting soil for the first 1.5 weeks then repotted them in miracle grow soil. (Yes I know shame on me. I will most likely repot them if I have issues with the soil but have researched and seen that you can grow just fine in it if you don't fertilize as often. To avoid burning the plants.)
I noticed after about 5-6 days in the miracle grow soil. Golden burned areas on the lower leaves and not on the new growth. I have since attributed this to the high amount of fertilzer and the small size of the plant that comes in the miracle grow potting mix. I have since kept a close eye and it seems to be contained to only the bottom old leaves which I have proceeded to trim once the plant has gotten large enough. I only tripped the two largest plants.
It is still too early for me to sex them but any experience with faster growing plants being males? Let me know.
Other than all that information I am more than open to receiving advice to help this grow go as smoothly as possible.
I plan on vegging the plants till they are at least 12-14"
Here are the pictures of my setup and the plants. I have included two pictures of each plant.
