Tent vs room

iv never tried scrog, iv gotten very good at using wires and lst. iv used 1" net pots from start to finish. the clones root, then veg out to a nice med size in a large tote of clones then eventually to flower area once they have recovered from the final lst to even out the branches. I have anchors made into the lids. the system works great all for 1" net cups.

before any says? how can you move a large plant with roots all crazy out of a 1" hole ? well unless the stem is about to bust out of that which only happened once, i get a piece of plastic wrap and tightly wrap my roots then pull it through the hole, which protects the roots while they squeeze through. this allows me much for versatility than having many set ups. i can swap out a bucket for a tote for sog perpetual or keep buckets for larger plant perpetual.

ill have to update later on how this little girl will eventually look like.

buckets are a great idea for dwc but i like to be able to move the buckets around vs fixed possition even if it means i have to manage them individually. i had to switch from totes because trying to LST when things get crowded can become and issue when dealing with more than one kinda girl at the same time.
I'm convinced I can run 3 instead of 6 in that 4x8 and get the same results yield wise. They get so big so fast all I really need to do is top them once or twice then flower them out I've noticed. One thing I did do recently was get a blue lab guardian so it constantly displays the ph, temp and ec. It's been very nice not to have to manually check the water all the time. Ends up my current round of sinmint likes ec at .6 (300ppm). I got a little leaf curl at 1.0 ec so had to back it off quite a bit.

thats really cool you got that blue lab, i know how much of a hassle it is to have to lift the lid off those buckets and use who knows how many different things to test the ph and ppms.

what everyone needs is a wind meter, every day its important to make sure your fan is blowing at its best.

Can't tell if you are being sarcastic or literal.
@In Shape Vet Well I figured it out after reading your 34 posts. First, thank you for your service. I admire Vets like no other. 2nd, I realize it's fun sometimes to tease people, but save it for the newbs please. Some of us have invested thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours to researching and contributing on a scientific level to grow the absolute best cannabis we can. The advice I give is factual and evidentiary in nature.

Checking ph and ppm constantly can become a pain in the ass where you decide to maybe skip a day, or not calibrate your sub par ph pen accurately can cause major problems in a complex hydro system very quickly. PH swings and nutrient lockout are problems with hydro, but with constant monitoring of these systems, such issues are easily prevented or controlled.

I'm sure being a Marine you remember all the rookies coming in and thinking they are hot shit and cocky, better than everyone else. Only to realize later that they are a part of a team. Lots of cowboys here on RIU, but man o man do we have some elite forces in the shadows as well. Welcome to RIU, I hope we can all help each other grow bigger and better canna.

yea, i just used a small ball point bit to drill out small holes in those things, i didnt want to make a hole that would let water sprinkle out. it also keeps the plant stead when removing the lid to check the ph and ppms since i dont have a blue gladiator 2000 thingy

I've got a space that is 8x10x6.5h. I've run a couple times in the room and i'm wondering if i wouldn't be better off in a tent to get some better control of the temps and keep the res outside of the tent to keep it lower. I only use about 4x8 or 4x6 of the space to flower because i have all my other crap sitting around the room, a/c, dehumid, and storage. Do you guys think i would be better off to get a tent and run a sealed co2 system? I'm looking at 2-3 cmh 315's to replace the 1k i had. I always did top drip nft and i think i'm going to try flood and drain this time like al b fuct was running, but use hydroton and smart fabric pots.

But the main question is a sealed tent better than a open space if i can get some co2 in it? I'm thinking of the reflection being a help as well.

Old thread but couldn't help replying... you said your space is 6.5' tall/high.... unless you buy tents that are 6' tall which are tough to find in bigger than 3x3 your gonna have issues as most tents are usually closer to 7'... I've always ran tents in my last space but I was blessed with 9 foot ceilings.... my new space has a floor to ceiling height of 6'10-3/4"... my 4x4 gorilla is 6'11" tall... theoretically you'd think it would work but no say nada... I brought it up to a spare bedroom that had 8 foot ceilings n honestly had a tough time getting it together and standing up with the fabric over the frame... so if u haven't found something yet or figured this out... think about it cuz my plans of a fast setup with a 4x8 & a 4x4, & a 3x3 went to hell real quick once I tried assembling that 4x4 in the basement... only the 3x3 worked cuz it's only 6' tall... but over it the time I used tents the one thing I hated was I always finished working in them with major back pain as I'm kinda tall... so no matter what I was doing I was always slumped over trying to work in there... so for my new place I broke out my carpenters degree that doesn't exist n built myself a 12x6 flowering room, all sheetrocked and painted, 20amp outlets everywhere including the ceiling, vented properly etc...... but it shrank down to about 6x10 cuz again I'm no carpenter... and then I half assed a veg area about the same size with black poly and 2x4's on the other side of the basement... but just something for others to think about if u haven't already figured this out yourself or if someone said it and I didn't see it...

Thanks for the heads up. I haven't done anything, the wife threw a fit when i started to gather stuff up to get going again so its on hold for now.

Unless u have kids under 18... tell her you'll happily be judged by 12 of your peers...lol... it's the only way I sleep at night, lol... in the climate of our world, a halfway decent lawyer and as long as you aren't living next to a school or something you really don't have much to worry about.... I'd use any means necessary.... does she complain about $ u spend on weed? Tell her it'll cost u less than $20 an ounce or something if/when u grow your own... if she has something to say about electricity costs.... 1000watt ballast is = to 10 x 100watt light bulbs....

I'd find a way man... if your doing it for the right reasons it can be one of the most rewarding "hobbies" you'll find...in more ways than just getting high... you'll be able to grow a hella garden once you figure the growing weed part... if it helps... build a garden, lol... good luck man don't give up to easily...
