hi just been sat in a stoned bubble thinking about growing and all the different things we all do and was wondering has anyone ever done a side by side one plant topped to death and another just left as nature intended grew them out and tested wether the topped one creating more yield makes the same potentcy as the other again just a thought before the bandwagon starts rolling lol

Yield does not affect potency.

Topping the plant does affect potency. An untopped plant will be more potent than a topped plant.

thankyou thats more what my question was leaning towards meaning all these advanced teqniques ppl are putting in could be the reason why mass produced streetweed aint doing the job for me a friend was saying i need to top loads so im getting the yield but im more about smoking a joint and being spannered beyond belief and wondered if my way of thinking was correct as it sparked a whole discussion lol

"Street" weed is usually crap. I don't even get stoned off of "Street weed". I need the real indoor hydro to get me to where I wana be :)

All my strains are cannabis cup winners and they are worth every cent!

The trick is to have a 400w hps bulb and you will have more than enough without even trying!

What lights you using?
Huh??? you growin one hitter quitters with a 400 hps LMAO

to the OP, neither of these statements are true

No I use 1000W DE HPS with COB LEDs for side lighting.

400w hps will produce enough for a single person not to worry about yield.

I don't see why one would not beable to grow a mean plant under a single 400w hps.

And a topped plants potency is slightly affected compared if you were not to top it. The main cola will always yield the most bud compared to any other part of the plant.
In terms of how potent that main cola is, I have read and heard many people saying that is the most potent part of the plant. That being said I have no scientific proof to prove that or to disprove it.

Hell I've written a book about it. No doubt HPS for yield but tis deep blue light and UV that make potency. But also is affected by nutes for yield most will push the feed as high as can be but for potency the less is more rule applies just enough nutes to stay healthy will give a better high

Sounds like stoner bro bs. Many folks say lower buds and peripheral buds are preferred.

Neither of us can prove or disprove that... So no point arguing on that.

Personally the main cola is the most mature and most potent. Lower branches are less mature and more leafy.

That has been from my experience.

When your experience is different from the majority, it should make you wonder why?

Easily proved, simply test buds from different parts of the plant to determine if there is any variation
Are you stating that plant maturity increases potency? It doesnt.

Many of my experiences are different to many growers on these forums. Due to the many factors required to grow a plant, one will experience many different differences even in otherwise similar conditions.

Plant maturity definitely plays a role in potency. Are you suggesting that a two week flowering plant Wil be more potent than a 6 week flowering plant?

I can show you photos of my main cola vs my side buds. Main cola is definitely bigger and more mature. Even though it is not the highest point of the plant as it has been trained.
