Can I give 24h of light to young plants?

I have them together with the clones which haven't yet rooted, so I'd like to be able to keep them under same light schedule. I know clones want 24h for rooting.

Other clones have rooted and been transplanted to coco.

The question is - can I keep both under 24 hours of light and when should it definitely be switched to 18/6?

I'm running my current seedlings under a 125W CFL 24/7 for the time being only because I didn't set up my timer and just left it plugged in. When I switch to my HPS/MH I'm going back to 18/6. From what I've read on the internet the popular opinion is that 18/6 is the standard because of power reasons as well as the cost for running those extra six hours each day during veg.

I'm a believer that all living things need sleep for good health.
Plants will sleep whether the lights stay on or not. To save on electricity, I have the lights taking turn in the veg room. When the main light goes off, the plants right underneath droop immediately like it's sleep time even though there is plenty of residual light hitting them. I like 24-7, I find it more convenient for cloning. With a better setup I'd do 18-6 in veg and 24-7 over the clones only.

you can clone under 18/6 no problems at all.....it may however take longer to revel those cuts, but i never did a side by side to prove this 1 way or another.

I always give my germers 24/7 for the first 2 weeks

then drop back to 18/6

I know in theory its un necessary

being carboncentric and all

but I'm being nice

good luck

ok there is a lot of science on the plants your growing . I could tell you a 1000 words about it . short answer no your plants do not need a rest or sleep . and in the long run running 18 over 24 will cost more in the electric bill . cost per month might be down but in the long run it will cost more running 18 . fans never stop running ac never stops dehumidifiers non stop . so prolonging the veg process will not save money .
