How to store extra soil?

I had some leftover soil from my grow sitting in a container with a lid on it. I didn't look in it for 3 or 4 months. But when I opened it up today there was mold growing in the container on the soil. So I had to throw away all that extra soil. How should it be stored? Should I drill holes and the lid of the container so air can get in there?

Yes I store it inside. I had mold one time. Cut a bunch of holes fixed it

I use to use an old 30 gallon trash can, but then back issues came up and that had to go, I try and keep it in the original bag if possible then fold over the end. I like the 55 Gallon barrel Idea too, for smaller amounts storage tubs with a few holes drilled in the top for moths LOL, your wife can tape over them later no bigiie LOL.
