FYI, hooked up my Pro3 (300w+) and move a diesel clone that for several weeks had been under a SE 220 (220), ATs first CoB offering

The other 2 pics are the same clone but under the SE 250. it had a head start being moved from clone tent about 5 days sooner. Note how well formed the lower growth is, due to defoling
I love what you used for your trellis! Too cool!

That's his Sun Cloak setup and yes he does it's a separate brand of lighting system. Not cheap but you can see the quality of the build and the results a good grower can get with them....... :bigjoint:
Very cool!

I'm new to LEDs so I haven't seen any of the new products over the past few years.

It took less than an hour to go from my planned-out HPS grow to LED. I was waiting for years for the technology to catch up. Timing couldn't have been more perfect.

Wonder how long it'll take the industry to phase HPS out. Its inevitable because there are too many good reasons for it, especially as the technology grows by leaps and bounds. While it's great for us growers, on the global scale, when talking about starving countries, this (combined with aeroponics) is going to have quite an impact. I hope, at least.

I agree and will also add no till to the list. I think it will be no till for outdoors and aeroponics for indoors. But WTF do I know lol :blsmoke:

I do think the HPS guys have one more trick and we will see how it works out. There's suppose to be a 600w CMH coming from Eyeb Hortilux, a real one not the 630 stuff out now that's just two 315 bulbs slapped together. If this true 600W works as it should (like the 315's) it's going to be something special, and a true 1K version of that oh my cannot even imagine. If it was not for the COB's I'd just be rocking 315's everywhere with remote ballast. One of my favorite lights that I have tried out so far.

All of these advances are good for us, the competition in the industry and better educated customers will continue to advance the technologies as companies continue to outdo each other.

Ok light rant over (:

That should be an interesting battle!

Yeah, we definitely benefits from companies fighting over consumers lol

I wish lec was a viable option. My 2 315's are collecting dust after my last side by side vs enhanced white. Hands down 93cri amare destroyed them.

I'm shut off now, I said the A-word twice today. The guy who built a light once is getting upset

Those vertically hung rails with the led strips are so cool!!!

Do you keep them there for the whole grow?
Welcome to my thread!
After tons of research & testing these are the only 2 led companies I will use. Amare & SunCloak.
I did 2 other journals on them that you can access through my profile page or whatever it's called. Check em out if you have time. They share my first led experience & results.
It can be tough to decipher what's good n what's not being new to led. If there's anything I can do to help Lmk.
Pretty much everyone on this thread will be happy to help too. Except for the trolls & NG's that recently popped up to start trouble. They're not welcome here n usually aren't.
Be careful for them, they don't know anything but what they read & are notorious for spreading false information.

These are some from my thread, but I'll also throw in a couple "eye candy" pics :)

And thanks for the kind words, sir! Very appreciated!

Hope this doesn't clog up your thread LMAO!

A lot of the pics will expand when you click on them. I went pretty high-res for these.

Enjoy

Dont ever worry bout clogging up or jacking my threads. They're here for everyone to share.
You plan on building this?
Nice model, good work!

Thanks Man :-)

Well, my first plan was to build an RDWC UC system with very specific goals. I had a long list of things I wanted to be able to have in this grow, so the layout went through tons of modifications until I ended up with my final plan. But, since then I've gotten a fairly nice car and I'd like to have it in my garage. Problem is, I converted the garage into a dedicated home theater. So I'm going to pay a contractor to pour a foundation under the 10x16 shop (they'll probably have to lift and slide it out of the way), and ultimately its going to be a single car garage. It parallels the house garage so its already got a driveway.

Where was I (as I finish my balloon)? Okay, so since that's all happening, I've decided to build it in one of my rooms. My daughter's grown and I divorced the ex, so I've got my house back, and it's got some empty rooms lol.

In the pics above I show the actual layout of the room I'm going to use. But I'm not done yet. The reservoirs are backed up to a wet wall, so I'm going to tap into it to feed the room (reservoirs, sprayers for cleaning, utility sink). I'm also putting a 4" drain and p-trap in the floor that'll drain into my backyard outside the room.

I'm debating running a dedicated line to the room. I used three breakers for the shop (one being 220v) because that's where I was going to have everything. But since I'll be using LED's I don't know if I'll need it. I'm going to be using a Danner 1800 for the under current, an Alita 80LPB air pump, 1/4 hp chiller, 2 Ventech 440cfm fans (exhaust and active intake w/foam filter), a portable ac/dehumidifier, etc...

Shit! Looks like I'm running another line to the room. I only have one left in my box before I have to have someone put a bigger one in.

These are pics of my original layout. I have hi-res versions, but unfortunately these aren't them.

Very nice! Real neat!
Have you considered turning the whole thing into a wall-wall grow w/ 1 isle?
That's all I can envision with a place like that. It's all I see! Lol!
It's crazy, everything I look at, I picture a big grow room. Growing consumes my brain. Haha!
That's awesome though!

Sick renderings. You should still run the 220/240 you will be able to run twice as much power with half the amps compared to 120V. It's more efficient in the sense that you can run more lights per breaker basically. Just my $0.02 anyhow. That's what I did and I ran a separate 120v outlet from the breaker to the room in 120V for the portable A/C to have for itself. Couldn't be happier, my light controller is wired direct to the panel on it's own new breaker in 240V and I can run 1K per outlet and have 4 outlets. It has a timer on it too. So as long as I wire my lights up correctly to not waste a plug for low wattage I will never run out of what this controller will let me run. I will probably never even hit half what it can do (2K watts)

Just some food for thought on the lighting.

I picture his room like you say with sun cloaks growing vert in aeroponics with DIY COB's over head for extra lighting :bigjoint:

I'm thinking of starting a build journal, using the renderings for reference. Everything is exactly to scale, so just from sketchup I know how much space I have to work with, exactly how long the pipes need to be, etc... I did this because I was going to have to wait for money before I could start. So I was kind of forced to sit down and use that time to really think about everything I wanted this to be. I wanted something that was going to last for years and be dependable, and disaster-proof (especially since it'll now be in my house). I've already got my parts and price list. I've actually had it for a few months now (lol). I'm hoping to share some knowledge with the noobs, and get advice as I'm going along.

RIU taught me everything I know. Well, that and my mistakes (lol). I built some pretty cool hydro systems about 10 years ago. I had two Super Silver Haze colas the size of 2 liter sodas. I did a lot of DIY back then. Now, there are things I don't want to skimp on, like bulkheads.

I challenge the fools on Capitol Hill who say cannabis makes you lazy and stupid! I have programmed for years while smoking. I've designed and built everything while I was smoking. I really couldn't have done it without smoking LOL.

Peace, I'm outta here for the night. "Off like a prom dress" as my mom used to jokingly say :-)
