What drivers are you running?
240 1400B something like that. Ive had the cobs and the drivers for some time. I went DE right after i purchased the LEDs. Super happy with the DE now want to test the COBS. Im still trying to figure out the savings in all this with the cobs. So i guess yea the cobs will out yield a single ended hps, but I'm not seeing how it beats a DE. But I'm hoping it will.

I think you would have some hot spots if your bars were only a foot apart. You want more spread, so placing the bars 19''s apart on center should fill your 4' side of your footprint. Then the bars themselves are 4' with 5 cobs, which should blast the 5' space very well. Damn your going to blow up that space. Should be able to yield well over a g/watt. What drivers are you running?

I notices with my array that between 12'' and 18'' away from the tops of the plants I get the best growth. Any closer and I get some bleaching.
Im on my maiden voyage with the cobs so a bit ignorant still.... you say you found 12 to 18" above the canopy to be the sweet spot... if closer what have you noticed? Just bleaching or stalled growth? What? And if farther? Just feeling these out and looking for tips...

Hi there @Gquebed, on my first run flowering with the cobs here's how high I ran them.

[*]The spacing of my 4 cob light With lenses

Mounted on half of an adjustawing reflector which is 22" x 16" (Approx! Lol)
One cob in each corner, 17" x 12" apart

I kept this light 8" to 14" above canopy with no issues I could see.

The 5 cob light i ran bare emitters
Mounted on mesh wire
One central cob and one cob in each corner
No problems running this light from 4" to 12" from canopy .
All the cobs are running at 1400ma.

This round I ran them all at about 12 inches away.
I keep an even canopy and a short plant due to 5ft ish height.

I think 12" apart at 1400ma gives a good even spread but that's my opinion.
I believe 18" apart was also mentioned.

Sorry about the "Maths"...... lol

You should be able to destroy with that fixture man, I'm excited for you.

Whenever I setup my new room I wanted to get it up and running quickly and budgeted so I got the 600/750DE. They work great and have been producing about .7-.8 G/W. Which is a lot better than what I pull from SE 1000. That said I just took down my first grow from my new 8 cob fixture and the results are staggering. Out of the 5 plants I yielded 634gs and around 1.5 G/W. By far the best I've ever done with any lighting.

Here's the lamp, 36''x28'' frame.

Results may vary as far as how far above canopy. Just got to feel them out. @a mongo frog the fixture mentioned above saturated a 3.5' x 4' space no problem. So your 15 cobs over a 4x5' space may be a little hot imo. If they are the 1400B drivers you could get a potentiometer to dial them down. Or if you've got more space you could build another frame and spread them out more.

So the 8 cob fixture is 400 watts or something? And what foot print?

The first rule of COB club. Always talk about your cobs?

Anyway, just finished hanging up my Tasty T4-2100s and putting away the HIDs and fans. They're hanging over what is supposed to be Romulans, but... I dunno... think they're a chuckers special. They don't look very Romulan to me...

So a mystery run here. They're looking good. 9 days since flip, so... let's bring on the buds.

Are you topping enough bro?

These COBs rock it, 600w of 3590's at 1400ma running over a 3x8' area at different stages right now and very pleased with the results so far. Aside from their production what's sold me on these has been the quality of flowers and loudness of terps coming off them...

I think its pulling around 430 watts, not real sure as I don't have a meter. The footprint is around 3.5'x4'. Just ordered another 8 cob set from cutter, and am going to replace the DE completely over the next year.

Hells yea man, bud quality is second to none. I've notice in my setup that the plants in between lights actually lean towards the cobs.

Yeah that's the kicker for me, quality of bud is the main reason I grow. My CMH 315's produced great quality and production but first run with these and they produced a bit more and noticeably better quality/terps. Now I'll use the CMH mid winter if I need some extra heat, otherwise the COBs own the room :)
