stargarden, why don't you email PLC? This is the last place you should be looking in all honesty.
#1 This place is awesome. K?..... #2 lol, Seriously though, I did email him and will be making my purchase on payday this Thursday... Gonna go with the 6 cob set up. Cxsomething-420. I plan on diy but need something close to what I would build sooner than I could gather parts. It looks like a really clean product and uses all the guts I would use. Cxb3590 cd bin, solid drivers, passive heat sinking, the only thing I am concerned with is the lenses. But this dude seems to know his shzzt.

The CXP-420 is a traditional style panel designed to replace 315LEC/CMH, 600w hps, and 1000w MH applications.
except this thing can barely cover a 3x3 , no way in hell it can out yield a 600w hps, and no way in hell a 1000w hps, why do led makers still make false claims, 66 par at 4 feet away, that's unusable you need at least 2 of those to cover a 4x4 area(then the coverage gonna be all awkward not a good footprint), don't really see any advantage to those, the cobs are placed too closely as well to be optimal, way better options out there for sure.

A 1000w hps at 36 inches has higher par and a bigger footprint than that light by a whole hell of a lot

That led is like a 400w hps replacement, and it uses 420 watts.

Nice thread, been wanting to see these in action and looking good in there!

@Yodaweed dude you are the most negative person I've seen on this site, particularly in the LED section. Why do you have a hard on for COBs? Is it envy, can't afford them so you trash them? Just trying to understand why you're so down on COBs/lights you've never actually tried/used. I question whether you actually grow anything or just hang out trashing everyone else's grow. Grow up or take some meds, nothing like someone without experience giving others advice.

I been using LEDs for 4 years, and cobs for 2 , guess I must not know what I am talking about with all these facts I state, sorry you get super butthurt that the truth is out there now, no way in hell these will ever come close to a 1000w hps yield, that's a fallacy for LED growers. It's so fucked up how LED makers always are trying to take advantage of noobs and people that don't know better, this light for 800$ will never come close to a 1000w hps yield wise, not to mention a duel ended 1000w hps yet it states it can replace one....but still only covers a 3x3? So according to this led maker 9 square feet can out yield 24 square feet.

I agree that some LED makers overstate things a bit. However, it clearly states that the CXP-420 is a 'replacement' for 600w hps. Nowhere does it state it can 'out yield' anything. I think this light will rock a 3'x3' but be somewhat more modest for a 4'x4'. I'd guess a 600w hps would 'out yield' it slightly but I'd still rather be smoking the LED buds.

Read what I posted it says 600w hps , 1000w mh , so it claims to out yield 1000w , crazy claims once again when will led makers learn...

This raises a good question. Since we know todays cobs in flowering replace hps at a rate of about 600hps vs 400cob or 1000hps vs 700cob (in that range anyway), how do cobs stack up in the vegetative stage vs MH? @Yodaweed do you think 1000w of MH in veg is equal to 700w of cob tailored for veg?

I think it depends on spacing and which diodes you use , but probably if done right you could achieve better results with 700-800w cobs than 1000w mh, i'd go with 5k or 6k chips if only using for veg , much more blue.
