I went to see my doc today....i asked her about the her college limiting scripts....The yukon medical council is governed by the Alberta college...guess they had a little conference recently to discuss cannabis...turns out the pain specialist/cannabis specialist is saying no more than 3g/day and the college will be limiting it to one....it has to do with liability....and getting them to sign off is not an option....i told her about peeps paying for doctors and she couldn't understand why people would pay so much...i looked at her and said because people need this stuff....so i'm a crossroads with what to do....i'm certainly not going to reduce the amount of cannabis i use since it already isn't enough...and apparently there is some research now......

where's the research? i thought there wasn't any because it's a sched 1 drug so they can't do studies
we got the same crap from our Dr but he's willing to sign for up to 20...so far. we are working on getting him higher as he's the Dr who signed for 35. makes no sense how he'd do such an about face
he even told us the average is 1-3 g a day but when i handed the sheet from HC about the amounts prescribed as at 2013, he didn't say that again.
Dr Pate in the Allard trial said something about needing higher scripts when using edibles.
our Dr at MCRCI said you don't need higher amounts even when using edibles.
I am very curious where he got his information
when we go in for our next appointment, i will be bringing more information for him on needing higher amounts for edibles.
we're not looking for a crazy amount like 200 grams but 50 would be good.
 
I had the same argument....she basically told me that if I could find a doc to sign my script as is to do it....she told me she would have the study for me to look at when I go back....she said the colleges are doing the same thing with opiates...where was that declaration that someone had their doc sign? Was it a HC thing?....fucking government control...i suspect that any doc signing big scripts is going to have to justify it. So wish I had not signed up for this....and they think this is going to curb the black market eh?

Seriously think it's time for some litigation against the college, they're the ones who seem like they're really fucking things up in the ACMPR atm.

Out of the 4 doctors I talked too while hunting for my license all 4 of them were fine with medical cannabis but all were afraid of lash back from higher ups.

The 3 in Sask were afraid of the college. The 4th in BC(who did sign but cost me $) was afraid of Health Canada and was the reason he wouldn't go any higher on my script than he did.

So are they also reducing the daily maximum for opiates? I want to see where they have reduced a patients pain medicine to 1/10th of what they had previously prescribed for anything besides cannabis. How do they think they can control dosage when we can buy it off the shelf at a store? Does their authority not end when it's reclassified? Which brings me to my next question- why are we going through the charade of getting a doctors permission for something that will be soon available to anyone ?
 
Limits on prescribing opiates....more controlled...I won't go back to a chemical cocktail...I asked why my morphine kept going up, and why didn't they just hack that in half....she said doctors are in such a grey area about this....then it's patients they should be listening to...its like her entire attitude has changed. Aren't doctors supposed to advocate for their patients? She brought up getting high and I literally laughed....

Strange that they claim they must use caution because there are limited studies and then quickly come up with a 'maximum dosage' as if based on some sort of facts. If the quack is worried about liability, ask her how much influence that plays in prescribing opiates. People regularly suffer overdose or addiction from these drugs, so I would have her explain why she would treat a relatively harmless plant with more caution.
A carefully worded letter advising her you are going to file a complaint and legal challenge over her refusal to respect the wishes and safety of the patient and for acting as a barrier to access in defiance of a court order would be a start. A follow-up letter to the editor of the local newspaper warning others of how this doctors' refusal to prescribe a safe alternative to pharma drugs could be contributing to the addiction, homelessness and crime in your city will get her attention.
Doctors have declared war on mmj patients, imo, and we need to fight back. My 'autonomy' argument is looking better and better...no doctor can force me to use a dangerous drug over a harmless plant or to live in pain if I don't agree with him/her. The big picture is cannabis will be removed from the cdsa in 6 - 12 months taking it out of the control of doctors...then what? If the dr.'s role will be reduced to writing scripts for plants, I don't feel the need to ask permission or reveal my personal details from someone who clearly isn't interested in my health...unless there are $$ attached.
 
i'm getting very curious as to the 1-3g/day limit impossed on Medical patients.
what will the daily purchase limit be for recreational?

this is getting so FF'd up, we always go 1 step forward and 5 steps back.

using cannabis i was able to totally get off of some of my pharma meds.
i guess that's the point big pharma isn't making money off of my prescriptions anymore.
they feel the pinch so the college limits what i can/have to use with my cannabis!

Hmmm...they have you sign a paper saying you understand the risk of general anesthetic, including the possibility of death, prior to an operation...but she's worried about liability for prescribing a soon-to-be-legal plant? I call bullshit...and so should you. Good luck, I'm sure you'll be much more prepared than the doctor will.

our Dr is the same way. he was on board with decent scripts but then when we saw him a few weeks ago, he started quoting the HC crap-average does is 1-3 g. i gave him a copy of the dosage chart as at 2013 which showed its very much higher than 3 g a day.
i am compiling a lot of information to give him to show him how wrong he is....all this to get the same as he gave last time.
he gave us shit when we told him that and said that because we didn't see him for over 2 yrs-due to the injunction geez-that he can't comfortably just re-write it....??
he wants us to go over her history again but we did that already and he keeps detailed notes....ok, I'm starting to rant so I'll stop.
just so pissed at this!!

Sounds like maybe HC hap hazardly threw some bullshit together, called it a study and passed along in an attempt to influence doctors on prescribing. Id like to know who funded said study, and is it peer reviewed? Thats what counts most
 
I love this place....keep the arguments coming....I will post it if I can access it online...it's crazy to me to think that I tell her what I'm using is allowing me to function, but more would be better, and somehow significantly less is supposed to be just as effective....I can't square this logic in my head...
