How many plants can I grow with a 750 watt LED light?

I used cheap chinese imports, I used Black dog, I used Kind I dont remember drivers and shit. I didnt get that involved in the science of them, I just bought into the hype at the time. I mean we can go back and forth all day on this bu the simple fact is that all the hype of these top of the line LEDs hasent been proven in a side by side with HID, and for good reason, cause its Hype thats it. There may be a day when LEDs can compare to HIDs equally all around including cost but that day isnt here and HID has been proven multiple times in side by sides to equal or outperform LEDs of the actual drawing wattage.
I think this dry weight comparison is interesting re your opinion on LED and low yields - The Spydr1200 seems capable of producing more than what it draws.

Sour Kush/Headband under LED is the tastiest weed I have tasted tried, the richness was intense.
Organic soil or synthetic nutes?
I hear a lot of folks say the taste and smell of organic herb is superior, but I'm not convinced. I think most of the flavor & aroma is developed at the end of flower and can influenced by nutes -- especially sulfur. A slow dry & cure is also important.
Hell, I grew some organic weed outdoors this year and it tastes terrible! Had to pick it early because I was losing entire branches to brown mold. (Once that shit starts on a branch, it's fucked in 24 hrs.)
Nothing goes to waste in my house. Weed that smokes like shit still makes good butter if you dry it out good. I might even make some hash.
(All the moldy stuff went in the compost bin.)

Synthetic nutrients all the way for me, never got all the organic bandwagon hype.
For my situation, organic is easier because I don't have to mix nutes, worry about ph, get a certain amount of runoff, etc. I really want to do another run with 100% coir but I'll wait for a proper drainage system to handle the runoff.
I should also mention that organic soil can be a fucking nightmare if the mix is not balanced and aged properly. Public warning: Don't just lay a tarp down and mix random shit from your grow stash. Pretty much guarantees problems & some of them can be a real bitch to diagnose.

And as much bullshit as this is, even if it were true then to what expense are you willing to go. After all isnt it about the most cost efficient way of maximizing yield without sacrificing quality what this is all about. Thats what its all about in the end, lets not lose sight of the purpose. So If thats the case then this argument is null and HID is still the best overall growing light for cannabis cultivation.

i'm actually starting to think of a hybrid system, with a hps in the center and cobs around the outside, the people that say they experiment with both seem quite happy

I'm saying, yield will equate to that of a 600w HPS, using 241 watts of light, 270 with fans.
Hey Olive, I see you are using Tasty T1s now and was wondering if you are still using the Viper 450 as well. How would you compare the Viper to something more commercial like a BLM Spyder? I'm impressed with your results and am thinking of moving in that direction. Thanks!

I'd say if you have the extra $50 that the T1 is more worth it, but for the money, it's the best deal as LED panels go. It's not an underwhelming, failure-prone piece of shit like Mars, and it isn't overpriced for what it is like Platinum/AdvancedPlatinum.

If he has an extra 50 bucks he should buy a 250 watt hps setup. :bigjoint:

Do you combine it with the T1s or just have the T1s running? I was thinking of buying the Viper and supplementing the T1s. I currently have 600 watt HPS and looking for something more efficient.

Have you seen these?

I remember reading somewhere that the 450 is best bang for buck but just wondering if the extra lense on the model above is an improvement or gimmick. Thanks again!

600 watt HPS kicks butt with the right bulb. I went from el-cheapo to hortilux enhanced spectrum and immediately noticed a difference. It's not as efficient as LED or CMH, but it ain't bad. If you add a few cheap lizard lights for UVB, you can grow some sweet buds with the gear you've already got.

The only thing I don't like about HPS is the heat in a 4x4 tent. I go back and forth on LED, but i think the Viper with a few COBs might be a solution. Or I might just keep saving and go all COB at some point.
