You know what? You like to talk shit, but I don't see you trying anything new. I got wet, but I learned something. It's a pity that all you can think to do is laugh at new ideas.
I Hate To Inform Ya But They Have Been Trying To Make A Successful Water Cooled Light Since Well The Invention Of The Light Bulb. Plus When You Had Someone Else Build Your Lights You Stated That You Couldn't Show Your Build Cause Get This It Was As You Said Was Going To Be The Most Innovative Light To Hit The Market. Then When They Leaked I Believe You Stated That Cobs Were Shit And You Had Just Built The Most Expensive Led Flashlight In Co. So Yes I Like To Throw A Jab At Arrogant Asses Every Now And Then. Until We Meet Again Have A Beautiful Day :P

Capitals don't make you right, just loud.

And you still haven't learned a damned thing.

Anyone know if ledil (or anyone) offer a metal reflector that is compatible with the ideal COB holders? I'm looking for something that doesn't allow light to pass through it. I've got the 90° angelinas that came with my kit but as you can see from this photo, light is indeed passing through them so I'm looking for metal options.

I built a 5 cob light using cxb3590 CD bin chip 3500k 36v. I messed up and put 5 different strains into a 3*3 grow tent. I am just started week 4 of Veg. I am thinking of adding 740 nm LEDs but not sure who has the better led to use. Can someone point me in the right direction. I am think a total of 30 740 nm LEDs 6 around each cobs. Any advice on 750 nm and led driver would be appreciated.

Here is a pic of my first grow. 5129.jpeg 5129.jpeg 5127.jpeg

So in my dealings with chinese suppliers i gotta hold of this if anyone is interested. Lots of different lense types, contact person in file. Im not doing any endorsement in any way as this is not someone ive dealt with but im sure someone gets a kick out of all the variety. Some of those lense spread graphs look interesting for focusing light evenly but im not sure im really reading those graphs right.

Cool shit, huh?

Some of those graphs look similar to what i saw in the info on that czech maximizer light (well, from their lenses) from a while back and people seemed to like those. Anyways i leave it all here if anyone would like to have a go with china. I have no other info on them

Fair enough.

I just want to point out that actively directing light is always better than reflectors or bare COB approaches. More photons on canopy.

I've just spent hours reading through this thread. And The one thing I see people ignore over and over again is the room/tent reflectivity or lack there of. Although I've only anecdotal data, thus not to be considered evidential, my example is a greenhouse. I grew for 2 years in a small greenhouse with a clear cover. I had some nice grows in it. Then I replaced it with a opaque, white, cover. BOOM! My harvests at least doubled! Nothing else change, same strains, my exact same organic soil, the water, location and orientation, all the same. It certainly took me by surprised. I expected less harvest for more security.
I credit the diffuse, even light. Maybe I'm missing something. So why wouldn't that hold true in a growroom/tent? It makes me think in a tent at least, no lenses/reflectors would work as well or better because of the amount of reflected light. Yes, more loss is a factor. But the increase of light from many angles would be increase light striking more leaf surface, possibly more than making up for the losses. Has anyone one done a with/without in a tent comparing grows of clones all from the same mother?
I'd think that would at least give an inkling as to which method is best in a tent, which is what many of us are growing in. I've no doubt in an open room, lenses/reflectors would be the way to go. Even then, I've seen pics here of open rooms that REALLY need a nice whitewash....!

Guess I need to test this by running my light without the lenses, which I just plain don't like, for no good reason.....lol

I run mine bare (technically the holder acts as a 105° reflector) and close, the coverage seems great. I was going to try and source some metal reflectors since the plastic ledil's bleed light however I like that I can run them bare at 8" to 10" from canopy. Adding reflectors would force me to raise it up to about 18" to 20" even if I got something wide like 90° so in the end I'm able to get an extra foot out of my grow.

This is one reason dont bother with lenses/reflectors.
Other reason is I dont have the extra height needed with the light magnification intensity.
I doubt if I bought a taller tent and added optics my yield would change much or at all.

I originally ran only 1.5kw of cobs, took off the reflectors to spread the light a bit more.
Atm though with 6k worth, even with the reflectors the light reflection off walls and everything is absolutely insane. With most of my canopy filled in, i'm still getting a LOT of light on the floor/bottom of the canopy.

Reflectors and lenses def have their purpose, but just not in my case.
can imagine reflectors for open areas next to a walkway, or if tent is open to let heat out etc...

Actually my idea was to use these asymmetrical reflectors in a rectangular area with side lengths in the ratio 1.61:1. I was thinking of using three COBs , with the asymmetrical reflectors on the edge COBs, aiming to avoid excess light on the walls. For the record, this was going to be a http://www.reddit.com/r/spacebuckets type of setup. I've since decided to use two COBs only, so no need for the asymmetric reflectors..
