how much cxb3070(at .8 to 1.4amp) would i need for a 2x2 or 3x3 ft space for flower(what space does one cxb cover?)? how tall should my box be (i dont know how far away the leds have to be. will i have to move the leds according to plant heigh ?)?
is one plant more effective than many little ones ? for what plant height should i aim?should i expect more than one square ft space for a plant?
how big should the veg space be ?

Depends if you want Christmas trees or multi top plants or single cola plants. Lots of variables. For cobs I run between 25-30w per sqft which is fine for most. For your 2-3x I'd say look at timber grow lights vero kits 2-3 cobs would do. Also look at northern grow lights and tasty leds. If you're diy savvy then look at COB kits. He has a single COB that you could run for that whole space. Depends what you really want and how much work you want to do. Timber DIY kits are plug and play so.....they're the most simple other than their frames kits as well as northern grow lights and tasty full lights.

All are a great deal. Take note that a single cxb 3590 produces about 20% more light at 50w than the 3070. And also CLU and vero offer cheaper and higher performing options. .......so I'm saying shy away from 3070.

What would be the variables for christmas trees, single cola, multi top? Like more cobs spread out?

sounds convincing ... so the 3590 will be it i guess(they the best right ?) ...http://timbergrowlights.com/200-watt-cree-cxb3590-4-cob-grow-light-kit/ looks nice BUT for what space ? could someone tell me actually from experience how many of these cobs i need ? do i need one for each sqft? or do they spread enough to cover more ? i get your 25-30w attemp but what does that mean for me ? i cant say this cob drains 50w so it covers 2sqft or do i ? would 4 3590 be enough for 3x3?
i still do not know what height my box should have to ensure enough space between the plants and lights. this kits are very fancy but offer little to none information for what space they are suited.
how important are reflectors if i would go for diy?
thx so far for your help guys

4 cxb3590
COVERAGE AREA:

24" x 24" to 30" x 30" @ 12-18" above canopy

PPFD @ 24" x 24" = 1200

PPFD @ 30" x 30" = 765

The vero 29 kit would be better. And citie kit would be cheaper.

His diy kits are plug and play so just gotta find someway to hang them.

For distance from canopy you'll want a min of 12". You said box......so you're limited on space? They sell dwarf plants if you're really limited but most strains from seed will be around 3ft if flowered from seed. You can always top or super crop or FIM or mainline. Search for each meaning. Your math is good. 50w will cover 2 sqft well. So 25w wash sqft is a good way to start. I think you could do 4 cobs in a 3x3.

Reflectors are tested to reduce 8% of lighting but walls will do that too

guess ill try 4 of them then thx... but still ... i wonder if it would be better if i do 5 3070 instead of 4 3590 ... yes they are less effective but i could drive them at even lower current since i could buy more of them.
point is 3590 may be better but also cost 50 bucks for me instead of 30 like the 3070's... so i could do even 6 3070 for better light spread ... but this is all theory crafting again :D isnt there someone from expereience who could tell me whats better to go for?

btw :D the vero kit with 4 lamps drains double the amount of watts i was aiming for :D ofc they are "better" :D and also almost 50watts per sqft :D
hmmm this citizen looks good but how does it comes i never heard of them ... anywhere i look they say go for cxb's they are the best for your money ... 40 bucks upwards so i guess its not what i wanna go for. moreover i can buy them almost nowhere ... cxb's are far less of a problem to achieve. https://www.rollitup.org/t/cheap-and-cheerful-diy-using-citizen-cobs.909460/page-27 they say too that citizens are better but i just dont get them anywhere.

im pretty sure i will go for diy and no kit. these kits feel like i pay 100-200$ just for them to drop all parts into a box and deliver them to me :D

just found a someone who does 3x3(or rather 2.5x2.5)ft with 4 3070 and got awesome loot :D im not sure if am allowed to post a link from another grower forum ...
nows the question again go for 3590's or do i get a better cover with more 3070s (yeah 20%more light are awesome but do i really need them ?) whats more important the more light or the better efficency(will i run them at same watts with more light or with same light but lower watts)?

I have a gogreen led with 4 cxb3070. It's ok. I have a grow on this forum with it. Also, higher efficiency means more light.

Either way if you go COB you're way ahead the flood of dudes trying to justify amazon 1000w (read160w) Chinese panels.

ok ill consider the 3590 for now on a 3x3 :D was thinking about 4x 3000k and one 5k for veg ... can that work ? im not sure how much space i need for veg and how big one plant may get :D
read somewhere one 5k should be ok for 2x2ft but there was no proof and im not sure if thats enough space for me.
or would you go for veg and flower under the same cob? and if yes at same watts?

hmm http://pct.cree.com/ says 300lumen less for the 4x 3070 AD vs 4x 3590 CB can this be right or am i getting something wrong here ? cuz 300 extra lumens aint worth 100 bucks :D

cob current lm lm/w w
3070 AD 1.4amp 7190 145.8 49.3
3590 CB 1.4amp 7266 150.5 48.2

this is only a 1% difference isnt it ?
