SunCloak lights

Anyone other than Hybrid have any experience with the SunCloak lights? I really like the concept but I'm not sure if I should go with them or wait until Timber is offering Vero builds? I'm trying to light up 2 rows of 4X8 in a sealed basement room and I would like to try to get by with no A/C so i think the 800w per row of Suncloak might be a cooler option. Any thoughts? Thanks.
 
A few things that stand out to me ,
  • 960 LED's per rail, only consuming 200 watts. What kind of LEDs are they using?
  • Inconsistencies in the product description and the product specs as to how many rails you get, total power etc.
  • Website is sketchy looking.
  • Cost of smallest unit is $1482 for what they say includes 6 twin light blades and 3 power rails, but I cant tell if thats 200 or 400 watts per rail or what. If I assume each light blade fully configured uses 200 watts, which seems to be the reality; than your cost per watt is $3.70 which is really really high.
  • Also, why vertical lighting? doesn't seem particularly practical unless your grow space is only 5' high.

Yeah dude. I wouldn't invest in them. No info on leds being used. Which tells me they're cutting corners
 
Just a fyi if your area is enclosed you will need some type of heat exchange, LEDs make heat, any lights make heat and when you seal the area the heat can't escape.
 
Thinking about taking over this thread so true info about these lights can be provided to the community.
There's nothing worse then non-educated speculations. Especially when everything I read above just about was false.

They use Cree LEDs.

Cutting corners is the last thing this company did.
Vertical lighting allows for a minimum of a 35% increase in yield.
200w per power rail, 100w per blade, 2 blades per rail.
I have both the 7 bar & 5 bar blades. My 27k's are the more efficient 7 bar & my 22k's are the more condensed 5 bar.
Website only looks like that on mobile phones. It's getting fixed soon.
MeanWell LEC drivers. 2 per power-rail.
Pretty sure mine are 88 diodes per rail.

These lights run super cool.

They just came out w/ new above fixtures called Horizons to be used for flower alone, side-lighting in other grow formats, above the Cloak when running 2' on center & big ones @ 57-6K for veg. They are pretty inexpensive too. Almost like a Quantum Board w/o the board so air can flow through easily.
They have silicone protecting the diodes & are water proof/resistant. I sprayed my plants while in the Cloak w/ no issues.
The owner's (Doug) awesome & has done everything to accommodate my grow. Customizing blades & Horizons upon my request.

Diodes? Who makes em? What wattage? Can you only get 22/27K ?
How much does a rail with 2 blades pull from the wall? Wattage meter?
Got any PAR readings for your setup?
What are the light bays hanging on top, I didn't see anything like that on the website? Did you call them horizons? Did you have to pay more for those or are they part of each system?

The website looks like something from 1998, on a PC, I haven't even tried looking at it on a phone. At the prices they are charging they should be able to afford a decent web dev. I would like to see better descriptions and detailed product specs at a minimum. That website is their "first impression" point, I think they can do better. That's advice for them to take or leave obviously.

Did you read any of his post right before yours? Most of your questions are answered and there are pictures. As was explained already the over head lighting is new and that's why it's not on the website. Post #10 bro
I have no dog in this fight I can't afford them or I would have given one setup a try. But dude seriously, read first then ask questions.

Really meant no offense! I saw guessing games going on & the first thing I thought of was lack of knowledge (word ignorant sounded a bit harsh) so I went w/ uneducated (meaning on the topic). Guessing would be speculation. Just how I perceived it. No offense.

I can answer most questions I haven't already.
-No, I don't have a wattage meter. I see 2 100w Drivers.
-Its a 3 D light & Ppfd readings are only 2 Dimensional. Aprox: 2,200 umols in the desired space. (gavita output)
-Yes, they are called Horizons
-Yes they cost extra, no they do not come w/ the system & are fairly inexpensive
-Yes, you can get 22 or 27k. My 27's were made upon request. 22 is stock.
-I'm sure they will heed your advice about the site. It's being worked on.

So what do these horizons cost? The smallest system is about $1400, 2 blades; so what does the horizon add to the total cost. Assuming the smallest system would only use one horizon and that the horizon is required.

It looks to me like you can get 3 blades for 14. I don't even think he'd sell 2 cuz it defeats the purpose of having bays & using both sides of one blade. They go as small as a 4'x4' area & you can get different heights. 24", 32" (my light), & 48". I recommend the 32" to poeple.
The Horizon is not necessary but is optional.
I think they cost around $300.

You can easily build these for cheap using these.

well you can build something like them..
but...the framing ,stashing all the wires,and drivers and..getting the framing right..
getting them attached to something that will act as a heat sink..

i am in the prosess of making some diy sunkloaz with these but.."easily " is not the word i IMG_0730.JPG.jpeg would use..the word is "eventually"

after all the r and d ..it might be easier the second time..iam pumped though
