Scrubbing air from my 2'x2'x5' tent with PC fan?

Howdy folks!

So i have decided to go with Secret Jardin Darkstreet60 tent and i was wondering about scrubbing the air.
I found a CAN carbon filter 100mm 150m3. So would it be possible to pull air through the filter with PC fan?

Main thing is that it has to be quiet... And have a lot of static pressure.
And this is my best find so far.

Noctua NF-A9 PWM 92mm
Airflow-78,9 m³/h

Acoustical Noise-22,8 dB

Static Pressure-2,28 mm H₂O

So if there's anyone who knows how to calculate minimum static pressure needed to make it work?
I could use 2 fans and mount them together, but i dont know if it makes any difference...

Or if you have any other ideas for silent air scrubber for my tiny tent pleas let me know.

No, a pc fan will not do anything. Neither will an inline duct booster fan. For a carbon scrubber, you have to use a fan with a fair amount of draw under load. They aren't expensive though. You can find them new on Amazon and ebay for cheap, and used ones even cheaper.

Here you go, a proper 4" inline fan for $49.99:

What you don't want to do is keep buying booster fans and pc fans, trying to accomplish this and end up spending more money in the end than just buying one of these in the first place.

I really hoped that someone here has pulled it off with PC fans... But nope..

So instead i will go with S&P Silent fan 4'' with 2 speeds - 180m3/h or 140m3/h
And use varic controller to run it slower. Cuz even 140m3/h will be way too much for my tiny tent. If i add the filter it would prolly run somewhere around 100m3/h or something similar.. and that would be more than 3 air chnages per minute.. :(

And i dont know, i have heard that if you use varic controller that the fans might start humming? if you run them too slow...
Any info about that.?

Get an electronic speed controller, not a mechanical rheostat style, they don't seem to cause the hum

There are a few things you can do to suppress fan noise.
  • Get a fan muffler($34 for one here)
  • Use insulated flexible duct
  • Use PVC pipes where possible (the ridges in flexible duct cause turbulence and noise)
  • Loosely surround the fan with sound insulation forms like this

Using PVC pipes for bends or long runs will also perform better than flexible duct because the uneven surface of flexible ducting causes turbulence within the duct.

I just wanted to clarify this. What I mean is, make a 4-sided box using these panels, but leave enough space around the fan so it doesn't overheat.

Any reason you suggest PVC instead of just sheet metal ducting?

I have this size tent and have low setting on the S & P hooked up and working great. I hooked it up to My DIY carbon filter. I also have a 4 inch intake vent coming in at the bottom with one bottom flap open.

S&P Inline Mixed Flow Exhaust Fan for 4 inch Duct 140 CFM 33w TD-100x

This model has about 90-110 CFM on low.
