The only part of this that isn't funny is the fact that poor people really ARE being taxed, often at much higher rates than those who own the companies they work for.

OK I can see your a peach to be around, but since you asked, the last time I ran into a vet he was walking across the country to raise awareness for the vets coming home with ptsd.
I met him cause he was walking across the parking lot limping so I said something to the tune of, been walking long, not to start conversation, but just to see what his reply was as I was heading in the store same time he was. He told me what he was doing and preceded to tell me how difficult it was in the state of ME to get ahold of the legions who usually will help a vet out with a place to stay for the night when needed.
He was able to convince me he was telling the truth with letters and pictures from all over the country. He even called his dad to prove to me he was telling the truth. you kids were at my aunts house for the night so I offered him to crash on my pull out couch, allowed him to get cleaned up, had food delivered so he could have a hot meal then in the morning when he left I gave him a $250 prepaid Visa and said good luck and thankyou for your service.

Heck I am a Vet.
Work with a program that gives service dogs to wounded vets. I do more of donation with this.
Volunteer work feeding homeless who in most cases are Vets I also donate to this as well.
As a Family we donate monthly to Wounded Warriors.
Have employed Vets. Currently don't have any right now on payroll
Allow homeless to wash free twice a month on certain days. Again you would be surprise how many homeless are Vets.
If you know of any Veterans programs that are legit let me know. I will be happy to donate something.
Not going to knock anyone who helps our Vets. Sometimes just a meal and a conversation can go a long way

No single mechanism would empower The People more than sound money. It is the answer to all your political problems. It will stop the "elite" dead in their tracks and hold the government accountable for their actions. You vote with your wallet is the expression. Not possible with the printing press, it's that simple.

But, yeah; keep your fingers crossed the government elites let you have your little 401k when times due and hope they don't raise the age limits on you. I'm hedged, invested and paid off. I was thinking of buying some houses at county auction just to rent out.

And you and I are about the same age with similar home values. You're a couple years into a 30 year mortgage and pushing 40 and just lost an election you bet your account on and actually tried desperately to put money on.

Age and health is such an obvious consideration that I felt there was no need to address it.

If you are too young to serve in the military you can be placed into miltary school.

If you are too disabled to serve you can do volunteer work, or simply be eutganized.

It still gives nobody the right to pass judgement on me or anyone else. that's would be like me saying POW's should have been more careful so not to get taken prisoner, completely different cinario same stupid statement. I'm sure you never planned on being taken prisoner as well as you were most likely as sinical as you were before you were. I am sorry you ever had to be in that situation, and the fact that you put your life on the line for the freedoms we all take for granted is as noble as it gets. For that I thank you, truly I do but don't pass judgement on me for something I didn't see coming cause I was working my ass off to provide for the kids I brought into this world and the woman that gave them to me.

No I wouldn't be a bit surprised, what does surprise me is the absolute disregard for them. I myself am not a vet, I did attempt to join the marine Corp took the test and was all signed up and ready to go. that night I was told I went out to celebrate and woke up 3 months later in the hospital with one less eye than I had before. When they called to check and see if I was ready for boot camp I told them sure as long as I can still kill people with one eye! The recruiter I'd not find that funny and threaten me with a court marshall till he found it was the lying to him.
Not a day goes by I wish I didn't get fucked up all I wanted as a kid was to be a marine. Since I couldn't I make sure I thank any vet I meet for their service to our country. it pisses me off to know that vets have to wait months sometimes years to get the help they deserve.To see them come home and not be able to assimilate back to society is heartbreaking. If I could change it I would.
That's why when I hear people that are trashing people who are living off government checks and foodstamps without knowing why they are there it also pissed me off. that's all.
