Spectrum King

Just looking at this company.. I say their claims are grossly exaggerated. What do you guys think?

In my mind, no way a light that produces 9000 full spectrum lumens is good for more than one small auto in a 12 x12 footprint or maybe 16x16..

I am however interested to know how they built the panel? Is it a bunch of small cobs wired in series? What do they mean by "driverless technology"?

I tried the same light in my closet tent for a bit. My closet tent is 20"x36"x60" I found the power of the light lacking, and the plants being weak and spindly. I also believe the area of coverage to be extremely exaggerated. I sold it on ebay and recovered my $$ thank god lol.

Never again.

My $80 two foot four bulb Sun Blaze T5 does a 100X better job pulling 75 watts at the wall. I ordered it with the 6500K bulbs.

Lol I will go check it when I get on the pc again I'm a member over there. SK can kiss my rear with their claims on their lights lol. And I ran the light as per their suggestion. I'm sorry even in their YouTube videos their plants look shitty. I would be embarrassed to show their plants on you tube and claiming to be the spectrum kings lol. Half the members on here grow better plants than those guys.

Just my $0.02

That spectrum king guy came on this forum making all kinds of unsubstantiated claims with literally no evidence and got hit with hard opposition, thread got locked and deleted if i am not mistaken and that guy got banned or stopped coming around. He strongly opposes COB lights if i remember correctly, basically called them garbage.

I know little about spectrumkingled , they seem decent compared to the worst but they'd be removed from any shortlist I was drawing up fair quickly.
I want address the text I've quoted above.Based on nothing only whats "in your mind" you've decided its impossible ("no way") for a fixture you claim ( you haven't measured it or any tedious bullshit like that) puts out only 9000 lumens to perform well in a 12x12 space.

The arrogance needed to think your hunch, intuition or whatever you call it deserves a response from people who've devoted their lives to the subject, it just blows my mind. That absolute unthinking arrogance makes my skin crawl.

Mann.. It's an all out gang rape going on over there... It's like 50 on 1 :) They are sooo pissed that I called them out for saying a 100 watt LED could replace a CMH... They're calling me troll! :)

I said I think it would do well in a 12x12 footprint. I'd give it a go if I had the light. I'd prefer to have the Timber Citizen Cob 100 watt for $239 though... I feel confident in saying I think that is a good light.

I've got a couple of the MLH 100w veg lights. I like the results from them. 2 in a 80x120cm tent. I think that 1 in a 90x90cm tent would achieve good results. I have 4 in total and I like the savings in heat and electric. IMO for what I use them for they perform as advertised.

Haven't tried any of their products for flower. I'm moving to DIY COBs for that.

Yea, there are some good options now available in the DIY space.. I'd like a 250w. Vero, Cree or Citizen.. All look pretty awesome.

Not to mention the satisfaction of making something yourself.

I think SK has their place. I like the fact that they are UL listed and IP65 (?). For a large op that needs pre built fixtures that are rated and approved they will be suitable for some users.

The thing about DIY I find most compelling is the even spread, up to date technology and customized build options. In just about every pre built fixture the tech is relatively older. I guess from concept to mass production the timeframe is about a year. Which in LED terms is an eternity.

Without Growmau5 I would never even think about DIY.

I have no skin in any led game but it sure would be nice to see someone be able to post a journal on this site using Spectrum King and everyone just sit back and shut the fuck up with all the dumb ass comments and just observe a grow with them and make our own silent observations.
Cobs are not the only form of light that can grow plants and not everyone gives a shit about DIY.
Some people actually have $ and like to just order shit, setup and grow. Enjoying the growing and not the technical bullshit that it generally half right at best :fire:
