Overwatered?

I have read hundreds of different pages / threads etc... cant determine based on what they say. The soil is DRY up to about 1.5 knuckles deep. Just the very bottom has a cool moisture to them ... NOT soaking wet. I water about every 2 days. I raised the light thinking maybe it was partly the heat drying out the soil... in combination with over watering? Any tips/ suggestions?
 
This is growing with 200w CFL and just raised the lights. cal - mag only twice and nutes only twice since start of grow. please help before they end up in the trash. I am also moving to bigger pots in the next day or 2. Temperature was at 75 degrees F... raise the lights so they are now 71 degrees F... APPROX 6 - 6.5 inches from top of plants... before they were at around 4-5... A couple of them also looking like they are developing Sulfur deficiency (yellow tops of new growth) am I correct?

I'd let it dry out completely, then give a small amount of non nuted water just so you can start troubleshooting one step at a time.

They were underwatered I think. gave it some water and now the leaves are starting to go back up... I think that's solved... but now the yellow tops? is that sulfur or possibly the lights are too close?
 
i took some new pictures after all the problems before... hopefully this is a little better to see... right in the middle o the tops of 2 plants... is coming in almost yellow... 2 of the smaller plants are coming in green... i would like to get the leave to point up more but not sure if it is mature enough or maybe the lights are too close still. still would like to know what the yellow color is if anyone knows please... Thanks for help from before also. Starting to look better. Also will be using organic fertilizer with some sulfur in it. I'm hoping that will fix it, 20161228_075417.jpg 20161228_075530.jpg

id repot into new pots with a loose mix. 50/50 per-lite and soil your using. give only water at first... how hard have you been feeding them and have you checked your ph of the runoff?
 
ph is 7 ( same since I started no fluctuations haven't checked the run off)... 20% runoff when I water (may have forgot a couple times)... I think its turning into a humidity / boron or sulfur issue from reseach I have done... also will be using bigger pots and organic soil of some time... I have read that could be the case, as I have a few wrinkled leaves and new growth is not coming in as straight as I would hope and browning on edges and curling down starting on the leaves edges ?? I fed them nutes with boron in it... so I know they SHOULD have enough...leading me to think humidity is too low not letting them absorb the boron.... I started the plant beginning of December and only fed them twice... once a week only when showing signs of deficicency. the fertilizer I was using didn't have calcium in it so I gave cal-mag twice ... but I did it a few waterings apart from the nutes... I didn't want to overload them. I also backed off the lights a little bit incase it might be too close causing the yellowing. I left the temperature around 72.5-75 degrees F and the humidity is now 45-50% ... before was about 35% To me they seem to be doing a little better than yesterday, but still not where id like.. I will attach new pictures below... Should I do the boric acid / water solution? any suggestions on soil? and does low humidity create yellow tops (boron deficiency or sulfur deficiency)? I was planning on watering today with boric acid solution or Epsom salts or just flushing it and I will grab a ph tester for the run off now that you suggested. Any and all help appreciated. Thanks. ( Leaf edges on some are curling DOWN / Cupping if this helps any)

Get them out of the peat pots immediately, as they will suck the water from the roots, big time. Transplant by burying the pots directly into their final home (3 gallon pots), and then water once every 4 days. Peat is good for seedlings, nothing more.

Ok thanks for the help, I appreciate it...I will be transplanting, should I flush the plant first, let it dry, then transplant after 2 days? Is this the best way to fix both problems? When I transplant I want to use a different soil also, is okay to switch to organic soil? I think the lockout is cause by too much calcium, it all makes sense now. transplant into your new soil w/ mix of perlite and unscented kitty litter none clumping. go heavy with perlite and about 1/8 of litter. then give it just water for awhile letting it run out. I water when the soil is moist but very light. You want to hit the watering time while the roots are in their wicking phase right before soil dries out... check out this thread for some good tips... https://www.rollitup.org/t/calling-all-noob-growers.316301/
 
Your welcome... there are a few members on here that helped me define the way i grow... and at the end of the day its a plant. treat it like any other plant. it will tell you what it wants and what it doesn't want.
 
Thanks very much. I was looking at those air pots also. I wasn't sure about them though. But now I might give them a shot instead of regular pots with drain holes. It shouldn't happen but if it does, if the roots come out the side of the pots and get hit by the light, will it kill the plan or is there a way to prevent that?

they kill the tips of roots so you dont get root bound as fast and so it induces the roots to branch out... Its as important to have a healthy root system as it is for the top side to be healthy.
