2x2 tent, cob setup question

Hello growers! I want to switch from hps to cob led, here it is my idea:
I should be between 800-900ppfd so its enough for that space. I see ppl pushing more watts and higher ppfd in similar spaces, dunno if it is a waste of money or not. Since I can not grow all year long my objective is to get the higher yield in that space.

What do you think of my shopping list?
(I'm from EU) If you can suggest me online stores to buy from I would be happy or I will order from Kingbrite on Alibaba

I have found digikey has a shop in my country that sells Vero29 gen7 both in 36v and 52v.
At which courrent should I drive them to get the best ppfd?

Well its been said here the 52v and 69v vero are better efficiency wise.im running the 36v vero at 50w and they are very bright.i liked they were cheap and built in holders for northerngrowlight heatsinks
Talk to @CobKits about shipping to eu i think he might do it and probably has a good solution for your 2 x 2 tent.peace

Thx for your feedback. I would not buy from outside the EU, in my country customs are a pita.

What about 4x Vero29 52v @1050mA ? With a dimmable driver I can lower the total wattage

yeah thats a good setup,at full power its just 52w per cob and you can dim to around 30w per cob for veg.its good to have extra power if you want it.this setup will be very efficient.

Thanks for your help! Another question: 4x52v = 208v and I am looking at the HLG-185H-C1050A that has an output voltage of 95-190v, will this be ok?

the HLG-185H-C1400A is even cheaper (€10 less) so I might go with this. How can I dim down the output current? Do they have a built in screw? Or do I have to install a potentiometer?

great setup. more than enough for both veg and bloom. during veg will prolly dim by 50% and run 100% during bloom

go with the 1400 and you can get an a model with an internal screw or get a b model with a potentiometer to buy.

you will need to use the hlg-240h-1050b if you want to wire in series and have dimming via a knob outside of the driver.if you use this driver you can wire in parallel for 50w each and dim via the pot inside the driver http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&productId=2136711&

plus if you go with this driver you can use the vero ez-mate pico connections when wiring in parallel because your voltage per cob will be below the 130v rating of the pico.it is a solderless connection to the vero cob http://www.molex.com/molex/products/family?key=picoezmate_harness_for_integrated_led_arrays&channel=products&chanName=family&pageTitle=Introduction

but if you want to use the original driver you listed,hlg-185-1050 you will need to use the 36v vero cob for series wiring.

I aim for efficiency so if driving the 52v version @1050mA gives me a better % I would go for it.
I don't know how to calculate ppfd of my setup so I can't decide. I don't know if the cob calculator uses the 36v or 52v.
Probably 200w give me a ppfd to High.

Btw I prefer to wire them in parallel. I also have to find the right heatsinks.
How can I attach the cobs to the heatsinks? Is some thermal paste enough?

The problem is that the 185h isn't enough to drive 4 cobs.

Probably I will also get a veg tent 1,3x1,3ft (40x40cm) with a single cob only for veg.

I am thinking of buying an (even) smaller tent to veg. like 40x40cm - 1.7sqft
What could be a good cob setup? Maybe just 1 cob?

Yea, and even 1 cob would be enough to flower it productively. (1212 or anything better)

And regarding your first post wether or not you should go above 800-900 ppfd, only if you run CO2.
You can go higher without CO2 but yield will not really increase all that much anymore.

I will veg-flower in a 2x2 tent.
Btw in my flo tent I will use a 1212@1.05A setup, so nothing big.

With cobs you can veg/flower with the same spectrum, many people do. Currently Im using 4000k for veging lettuce, tomatoes and peppers. My favorite cobs Im running right now are 3000k 90cri which I bought over a year ago, but seem to be getting some additional attention lately. Its really up to you but I wouldnt go over 4000k or under 3000k.

Yea, 4 1212@1.05A.

I just meant, 50 watt at 1.7 sq feet would veg it very very well.
