I doubt they would have stopped the advance even if half of their tank force was T-34s. Their tank forces were operationally obsolete and their officer corps had been mostly murdered. Using a TRUMP! style of management, politically reliable people were put in command regardless of their incompetence in the field.Read again, I didn't say they weren't around, I said there weren't around in sufficient quantities to stop the initial German advance into the "Motherland".
Great tank though. Berlin used to have a Soviet war memorial with a couple of T-34/85s. There were birds living in the barrel and turret. It was kind of cool, the birds I mean.
Tigers were much later. In Barbarossa the Germans relied of PzKw III (up to type H)s and IV(type F)s. Neither was armed with a good high velocity gun. Might have well have been driving a Volkswagen against a KV.
