If you are new to growing i think lighting should be the last thing you focus on, it's not gonna help you get the knowledge you need to grow good meds. I'd focus on the gardening for now if i was you and forget about your lights, as long as plants get enough light each day they will grow fine as long as you take proper care of them. I have seen so many people on this site that know a ton about lights but don't know shit about growing plants and some of them straight up don't grow weed. I wish you the best luck and happy growing.

@Yodaweed you still talkin bout how a gavita covers a 5 x 6 lol,and you still dont grow under them.happen to know the ppf or ppfd under a gavita @ 42 inches? I do and i know 770w of quantum boards and cobs is slightly higher at that same distance.its weird maybe my par meter favors diy builds over store bought lights haha.post some pics of your cmh grows that break a gram a watt,or thats right you dont post pics here just talk shit.
Your lil blue dream might yield more then someone growing a better strain under leds,so many variations to make gpw useless here.so lets add all your power load,lights ac dehumidifier, fans ect.and the size of your tent vs the same size tent with a qb setup.i bet the numbers dont look so good for the cmh or gavita when we do this

I don't run blue dream.....not a fan of that strain, follow me on IG there's plenty of pictures. You can even see the dabs i make , and i'd love to see a side by side of a 770w QB build hung at 36 inches vs a gavita @ 36 inches. Everything you LED guys say is hypothetical with no actual proof to back you up, every single grow log with QB's is embarrassing to look at everyone is tiny yields from tiny plants.

Ask gavita to estimate any room for you using their lights and they will quote you needing a lamp for every 4 x 5 sectionof the room.go ahead,its a free service.

I believe you, and i think those are good lights but there are better, QB's are not better , they are for micro grows , the distance to the LED surface has to be way too close to be used in serious production. They would be great for growing leafy greens.

COB's imo are better than QB's, your main growing is gonna come from those COB's not the QB's , turn off the COB's and try to run QB's only you gonna need to put that thing close as hell. Well done light by the way looks professional , but i am still not sold on QB's.

The proof is in the pudding, when you show me someone growing pounds instead of a few ounces i will believe all your talk, until then it's just talk and you have no proof besides embarrassing grow logs with tiny plants and tiny yields, a 250w hps would yield more than the QB setup's i have seen using similar wattage.

What was the dried weight in grams? I Saw you used around 250 watts , so if you can let us know the final dried weight that would be useful thanks.

I know you have a hard time saying anything good about anything but give me a break. I explained that I put a immature plant into flower. I wasn't looking for big numbers, I just wanted to do a quick run to see how the plant responded to the new light. It showed me everything I need to see, I will be building with quantum boards until the next leap forward in LED tech.

Yeah the QBs seem legit. I have been following former forum member, GrowMau5's latest build with QBs (on YouTube) and the light he built is about the sickest thing I have ever seen! Man! I think it's probably the biggest most powerful QB I have seen -I think it's 900+ watts at the wall or something like that....It's incredibly bright and has all the bells and whistles. That guy builds some incredible stuff....I can't wait to see some more results from the QB builds. So far, everyone who has them seems to love them.

Heat is always the same the only thing that matters is how many watts in, if you run 1000w hps it's the same heat as a 1000w qb build. That's called the first law of thermodynamics.

And yes they are expensive because they produce a ton of w/e is grown under them.

1000w of QB boards would have a ppf over 2500µmol/s. your point again?

By the way, heights is completely uninteresting!
Each lamp is used in the height for which they are built.
You can also add Quantumboard with very narrow lenses and they bring the light as deep as a DE1000. Look at @ttystik's vertical arrangement as he bridges distances of over one meter only with QB's and lenses

His design is nice, but I feel the placement and orientation of the QB could be better to even out the spread. When I build mine Ill use a meter to see what placement has the "best" spread for a 4x4 area.

Judging by a par map robincnn posted somewhere I can't find again, 8 boards would give "perfect" spread for a 4x4. I believe it was 2 boards in a 2x2 with 800ppf over the whole space.

Ill try the 4 boards at 640watts first to see if it is a good spread.

Very simple frame for a 3 board bar. Two 42 inch long 3/4" aluminum angle rails drilled to match the corner holes on the heatsinks with two 1/2 aluminum angles slightly shorter than the heatsinks pop riveted to the main rails.
